@Red777, actually i've been thinking and would it be possible for you to create a program that looks through the system files and deletes and encounter info that isn't required?
The older versions of FLE had the habit of copying every encounter to the top and i think it will cause server lag when entering a system.
These bits at the top:
[EncounterParameters
nickname = area_defend
filename = missions\encounters\area_defend.ini
are used by:
encounter = area_defend , 4, 0.100000(in pop zone)
In some cases they are added twice as well. Thanks if you can give any help on this.

I'm thinking about extending the quest (for those that have found it) and i could do with a few ideas. There are 5 or 6 groups in the background of the current version that could be used for the quest instead.
Please do not post your ideas here. If you do i will not be able to use them even if they are very good ideas. Instead please email me.
I was thinking along the lines of adding more to the journey towards the final location, which will remain the same.
It will most likely include some of the more popular groups that aren't currently in the quest like the order or the duchani.
My email is on my profile, feel free to use it.

Hi Mace, been playing the mod in openSP and on-line excellent work, adds wicked layers of depth!

I have noticed one little niggle whilst playing openSP, although minor still a niggle. If you start SP as a Zoner there Is no way of buying the Dromedary freighter from your own faction as you dont have a sufficent enough rep. As you know you can't improve your rep with the Zoners as they have no friends or enemies!

Stirling effort, keep up the hard graft!

Cardamine, cardamine, MUST HAVE CARDAMINE!!!!!!

Hi CausticYoda, thanks for your comments. The Zoners are a bit broken in this version. They tend to get hostile to you very easily.
They do however have enemies in the form of the Imperial Navy and Imperial Slave Traders. In the existing version, they do have some empathy values, basically:
Kill Imperial Navy ships (don't bother with Slave Traders), Nomads and Corsairs (for their anti BH and no links to hackers/unioners).
Keep friendly with IMG and do jobs for them
Don't attack Xenos, Hackers or Unioners (their allies to a lesser extent too)
Keep friendly with GMG, Bounty Hunters, Ind. Gas Co., The Federation, Duchani, Fr. Police and the Eastern Coalition.

In the next version all of the faction reactions will be changed and the Zoners will have more definite allies.

Lo Mace, cheers for the tip.

I have another question regarding reps. I recently came across the Federation Elite and they were instantly hostile towards me. I checked out their mates and I'm on best buddy terms with all of em. Is there something else I need to be doing to stop them attacking me or is it an issue for a future update.

Cheers M8

The Federal Elite and Imperial Special forces are initially hostile to everybody. The only way to get them friendly is to attack their rival, but be warned these guys are some of the most heavily armed in the game.
A feature of FS is the long range missions where you buy (or note down) a data file giving you the location of a destroyable base in hostile territory. Its up to you how you approach the target, but you blow it up tractor in the loot and return the mission complete cargo back to the base of origin to get full payment.
For the Imperial and Federal targets, they are guarded by the special forces.
If you are visiting Planet Capitol in Archenar or 70 Ophuichi watch out for the special forces there. Planet Capitol is the emperors planet and there are special forces outside occasionally. (*note, there is actually a bug in this version where imperial specs and imperial navy fight in this version, they will be allies. Meaning they will all turn red and attack you)
70 Ophuichi is well worth avoiding if you are hostile to both of the special forces. These also alien ships in there just to make things more interesting.
Oh, and there is also the Rheinland special forces too.

@richard w. sabatino, ok well no problem i'll just update the topic for the thread. I know quite a few of the servers hosting frontierspace have been pretty empty recently and i'm hoping its due to connecting problems.
If you want to, you can have a look at the Broken Oath mod, its a server side mod and if you want to you could modify the jumpgate to Toledo, make any changes and re-package as the Evil Empire Revolution.
Its just an idea, i'm pretty happy with the Broken Oath, it seems to be bug free.

Ok, I'm stumped......

Finally got around to doing the quest. I'm at the point where I have to fly to Planet Carinea in Omicron Alpha. I'm on friendly terms with the Valerians so I figure I won't have a prob when I get there. Right?

Wrong. As soon as I reach the planet, I am all of a sudden hostile...with the planet only! Valerian fighters are nice and friendly with me, but for whatever reason, I can't land on Carinea

Thought at first it was because I didn't take any specialty mining equipment with me, so I reloaded my save game and tried again, this time with a cargo hold full of mining equipment. Didn't make a difference

Not sure what to do now............

@Oddball, that one was mentioned quite a while ago at page 12. I'll quote it, i'm nice like that..

Carinea, there is a problem with the docking ring. It means that nobody can play through the quest with the current version. To fix:
01. Open up:universe/systems/hi01/hi01.ini
02. Search for:nickname = Hi01_02_dock_ring
03. Change the reputation to fr_quest1_grp
04. Save

Oh sh*t. Thanks Mace. I completely missed that post

Made the change to the .ini file in the FrontierSpace folder within the FLMM folder. Didn't work

Couldn't change the same file in the Freelancer folder. Does that one need to be changed as well?

Post Thu Jul 27, 2006 8:39 pm

Nevermind. I figured it out. The .ini file in the FL folder was 'read only.' Removed that, made the change, put the 'read only' back on and now it works

My apologies for being a dumbass........
