Is it legal? Dunno, I'm sure they wouldn't do it if it wasn't. I know that EB has sold demo/beta discs in the past, so what's the difference? And they aren't really "selling" them, the are giving them to you with the reservation of the real mccoy.

And Yes, I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that I got it at gamestop. I did not dream it, did not make it up... And my debit card reciept for $5 confirms it...

I can say that when I went around lunchtime, there was a stack. When my buddy from work went at 5:15, he had 2 copies left.

This is odd.....never heard of this kind of advertising done my Microsoft before.

The PR beta is months old. The latest build we got to play had a lot of things improved including a couple of graphical elements and balancing and some gameplay changes. All for the better.

100% the struts are going to be in the retail FL.

Do you have any idea whether this is at all gamestops or not? This is really one of those "seems too good to be true" type things. Especially since there's no mention of it on their website....is it possible u were a lucky isolated case or do you think it's widespread?

I don't know. There was one by my office, and like I said, I went there for another game, and just inquired if they knew when they'd get it in store... And that's it...

As it's 11:00 PM here now, I cannot call another to check it out. But I will check around in the morning at a couple of the other Gamestops, and see...

Well, Here is my report on my hunt for the BETA tonignt...

Went to the Gamestop 3 mins from my house, I got there after closing & the people there either didnot want to deal with me or were just being stupid like always at that store...they had no idea what I was talking about

Drove up to the mall, 25 mins away..

Babbages there had no idea either, but just as I was turning to leave..the guy says " Wait a sec, let me call DOWNSTAIRS to the Gamestop ", He asks the guy on the other end of the phone.." Hey, Did you guys get any FREELANCER BETAs "...Oh, You did??, can you hold one..we are sending a guy down right now "...

So, I preordered from Babbages & got the BETA from Gamestop...they are owned by the same parent company..

Looks like only Gamestop will have the Betas..

Umm, I have a 4-day weeked..I wonder what I should do this weekend after I spend some Valentine's time with my wife...
