I've noticed these things as well, but I also think everyone who's played the mod has noticed them. I do not have an answer; I AM curious as to why these objects have the strange names, though.
I always figured that it was some little requirement to add things to the game - for instance, in order to add a star in a system, the designers had to name it something already part of the game's code.. and "Dublin jumphole" might have been just one such thing....
But again, these are just my speculations; I have no REAL idea or answer for the names, invisible systems on NavMap, or jumping Waypoints.
Anyone want to correct me here?

Dear Michael,

I have just downloaded rebalance mod 3.4 wiht all upgrades. I have done all what You have written. I have uninstalled freelancer and flmm and deleted all saved games. I have deleted all folders with freelancer. Now I have tried to play new game wiht rebalance 3.4 and upgrades. Game has crashed when I click on "cube" near Maine. After destruction rogues base I have landed on Picburg. Now I can not fly away. Game crash. I have tried it threetimes. I can not continue. (When I have worked my own mod, I have had this problems, when new pathol path didn't end on base or docking ring....) I have turned on first upgrade 1, next 2 and next hydraBaddon. Is it necessity?

Can anyone tell me how to disable the "auto-dock" feature? I'm refering to the ships instant docking within a certain distance from stations/planets.

~I know it's from Tachyon: The Fringe (GREAT game, BTW), but i don't know which designer programmed it. (ha, sorry, Baene, you probably already knew this, and I just fed you useless info)

~Paritel: You don't have BOTH Upgrades activated at that same time, do you? Upgrade2 includes Upgrade1, so I'm guessing if you have both activated, some of their files are conflicting slightly with each other, like when you target NY Federal Prison (your "cube" :p ), causing problems.
Try only activating Upgrade #2

EDIT: Ah, sorry Paritel, just re-read bottom of your post. For whatever reason, the Hydra B addon conflicts with the Upgrades, causing crash when you target the new bases. I had the same problem as you are describing; I deactivated the Hydra B addon (which only adds ONE ship, the Hydra VHF/Freighter Prototype B since the original was too large to exit the Osiris, making completing SP in it impossible ), then reactivated the Upgrade, and I have no problems.
So unless you really love the Hydra and are bent on completing SP campaign in it, I would deactivate that; buy the original (for sale at Columbia Transit, Moon in EA, and Baden-Baden) after the campaign or in MultiPlayer, which has better weapon capabilities, bigger cargo-hold, better shield abilities, and is pretty much the same in every other way.

It's all good, bro. It really is one of the best models in RB, i think. I imported it into Milkshape just to check it out, without textures, and it really is a sweet, and complex model, with zero gaps. So i was curious as to who might have made it. Kudos to them, whoever they are

Yes, it is a great ship - great weapon mounts, decent speed (especially with 3 Order Thrusters ) and manueverability, and, like you said, a nice skin/texture job.
And the Archangel HF on BS Norfolk is also from Tachyon; I'm saving up a little $ for it right now in SP (I'm not far enough in that game yet for high enough level).
I hope it's as good a ship as the Battle Ax

A question about giving credits. Rebalance has the Borderworlds XR series ships that Tyco Brahe made but I don't see him being given credit for them. Is that because they are based on existing artwork for the original Borderworld ships?

Also, have you thought of adding Tyco's Horus ship? The enhanced Anubis ( "XR" ) mod that he made?...D'oh! Never mind on this latter thing. I just realized you made the standard Anubis kind of the Horus at least in the shiparch.ini but I see you didn't set it up like the Horus for hyperdrive capability.

Does anyone else wonder where Michael Dan is? Is he on a trip for work or something? I have not seen any posts from him in the past week or so. And I've seen so many questions addressed to him, he's going to have his hands full if he has to answer all of them.

Ah, man, you are right about the NY Federal Prison, Paritel! I can't launch from the stinkin' thing - crashes! Well, I don't know what the problem is. Can you try emailing Platman, the creator of the Upgrade #2, because I cannot send emails through Outlook Express for some reason :/ Just tell him what's wrong, I guess: game crashes when player tries to interact very much at all with NY Fed Prison.

Attention: There is indeed a problem with RB upgrade 2.0, it's causes crashes AFTER leveling up to lvl 3, in SP mode. I believe is cause of a base or jumphole improperly added in NY system. I suggest you deactivate the upgrade for now whuile you're on the SP campaign and only re-activate after you finshed the campaign or while playing in OpenSP or MP modes.
Baene: the Battleaxe model was made bey Redeye, a veteran of modding in FL, at my request, i was the one with the idea to add Tachyon:The fringe ships. He was about to made the Warhammer and the Phoenix as well, but unfortunately he dissapeared from the FL modding scene shortly after that.

I have one question about the Upgrade 2: if activating the Upgrade causes you to have to start a new game, how can you activate it after you've completed the Story in SP and still have your progress saved? I have to start a new game everytime I activacte a new part of a Mod :\

Well, you can try to activate it while being in a non-plot system like the EFa or the Edge worlds, but it's true that the safest way is to start a new game after activating any part of the mod so this makes the upgrade 2 is only playable in OpenSP or MP(within servers that have it installed that is).

Update: I found the problem with the RB upgrade 2.0 and i notified Platman, and he's gonna send the corect version to baked asap. It was the jumphole from NY to the newly added system that was causing the crashes....

I need a help here.
I am about to race hovis...
I have been around almost in every sector.
Being friend with outcasts i was able to buy the Sabre XR VHF Prototype.

No matter how many changes and combinations i have made to beat him at the end...well nothing.
Every time i am using the AB causing quick or slow enough, to drain off my speed power before the end.

I have become tired of this.
I know, this is not my best side, racing i mean. I never liked this part of the game.
Anyway, Can you recommend any ship with no power drain ?
I will appreciate it.

I have 2 questions for you - How did you get a Sabre XR in the Story mode?? ONly 3 planets sell that beauty, and they all tell me that I have to be level 26 or 28 or something that's NOT level 11/my level. Even if your rep is really great w/a faction, I didn't think that came into play when buying a ship, just your Pilot Level. well, congratualtions on getting it
And what Powerplant do you have? Try getting the Uprgade Powerplant Mk 4 or 5 (Earth, Crete, and Tripoli sell them both), try a different engine, load up on Fusion Injector Mk 4 or 5's (sold at same places as Upgrade Pwrplts, but also on Malta and Planet Primus), or (and this might hurt) you may have to buy another ship that doesn't have such draining engines. If getting a new pwrplant/engine doesn't work, try out the Slipstream on The Hood - I use it to SMOKE ole Hovis. It has incredible speed and manueverability. And, with those double engines , you should have no problem beating him.
Oh, and makes me think, try using the SabreXR's double-engine kill (makes you go tradelane speed ). But if you already have a different engine, or if you unmounted the original ones, that won't work.

Return to FL Rebalance Mod
