smeghead, Dan already pointed out that the Enterprise is the NX01 (see his reply, 13th April).
freighter fighter, there is already a PlayType.bat batch file in the mod folder, I don't think you need to FLMM the OpenSP mod separately.
Perfecto what ships are you using that cause the crash, I've exited Sprague fine with plenty of the custom ships (Death Scythe, Longsword, Hydra corvette, etc). The mod version is 3.4 final with the two ship addons (see Rebalancemod website, download section).
The Hovis race is kinda iffy, I had to sell the Hydra because it's mass was too large and kept drifting widely each turn. On the other hand LFs and some HFs are very twitchy, that race takes as much luck as skill.
I guess having docking on again will be fine, cause I generally don't really like flying capships (I'm a hit-n-run kinda girl). Some time back I read that mooring required all the bases to have a mooring thingy added on, although things could've changed by now. If it's too tedious then fine, I can live with the current insta-dock setup.
Having more bases is okay, but my beef with this is that most of the infocards are screwed. Tried checking out the Earth Alliance planets lately? They all say Pittsburgh stuff, iirc. The new non-planet bases are the same, most of them say they're the Suffolk Battleship, or something. What's wrong? We don't have enough space for infocards? I agree with Ro9ue, we should try to populate the lesser travelled systems instead of just adding more. I'm not against new systems, I liked the Earth Alliance (good ol' planet Earth), but I find myself rarely travelling through Bretonia and Keppler for example.
Improved AI, I think you had a difficulty.bat that let the player choose "high, normal, low". Reading through it showed loadouts, weapons, etc. so basically high meant better armed NPCs but they were still not that smart

I think it's a good idea to incorporate an AI setting also. I always play at High, and although that's nothing to sneeze at when you're a lowly Starblazer pilot you can still pretty much survive any random mission. I sometimes forget to save when I do those things, cause I always assume I can get back. Having more brutal enemies would definitely spice things up.
Edit: typo.
