IGx89,

i just made a mod that adds a klingon D-7 to planet pitsburgh.even got the ship icon to display a little pic of it at the ship dealer and made it the one sitting on the pad when you land.

would it be o.k. to mail you some screen shots to see if your interested in hosting it for me ( i have no web site at the moment) ?

also looking for some free advice on how to improve it ;-)

I'd love to host it for you! If it is bigger than 1mb, e-mail me and I'll give you an e-mail address with a bigger mailbox. If it isn't, then just e-mail it to my regular address:

[email protected] (be sure to put Freelancer in the subject line!)

Hail.

I am having some problems with FLMM... several mods (including some that come with the program) wont activate. It gives several errors on "access denied" to most ini files, and I am quite of ideas on how to fix this.

I'm running Windows ME.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,
Greyone

hey, how goes all?

anyways, i found something strange when i try to append something into mbase.ini through the mod scripit, it kept on telling me that mbase.ini.flmmbak is missing, even though the file that i am appending into was stated clearly in the script as mbase.ini.

did i miss something about mbase.ini? the append function seems to work with all other ini files.

Any idea would be appreciated. Thanks all.

hi,

had that happen a couple of times so far - easiest fix i found was to uninstall flmm and install freelancer over the top of itself ( didnt cause me any problems at all ) . the whole reinstall takes only about 5 minutes. then just reinstall flmm - dont do what i did and forget to back up your downloaded mods first ;-).
seems to be caused by a mod not de-activating properly for some reason - if you then restart the mod it seems to scrub the backups.
i was trying to improve me mod at the time so its probably something i did .

hope this helps

If you guys can figure out how to replicate those "*.flmmbak" problems for me, I'll be able to fix them a lot quicker. I can't replicate them here .

Does anyone who's having the access denied problems using XP and MSN/Windows Messenger? Then I can use Remote Assistance to help figure out the problem quicker.

(edit) Hmm, maybe the reason why I can't find anyone with that problem using XP is because it doesn't happen in XP...I'll look into it (/edit)

nah im using xp pro sp1 - i just cant remember what i did to get the mod showing as de-activated while still being active.

trying to recreate it at the moment

the problems only started showing up after i hit activate mod - thats what seems to delete the backups and cause the problem i think.

edit*
if my memory works (which aint often) id crashed freelancer while exiting to the main menu - i may have tried to delete the auto-save (bad habit) while it was write protected. i do know it hung to the point i had to hit the reset button - no cursor or anything so it was a pretty major crash. when i started flmm again the mod was marked as dis-abled so i re-enabled it - it was the next time i tried to restart it i think the backup problem occured.
which one of those 3 stupid things i did caused the problem however im not sure - and im a bit wary of trying to re-create it ;-)
come to think of it i probably had the ini files write protected while the mod was installed too - which may be more likely to have caused the problem - i do know that restoring the backups left the mod installed.
end edit*

I would really appreciate it if you could figure out how to make that problem happen; if I can't replicate it, then I almost certainly won't be able to fix it .

Also, I found out that I can't host your mod; my host limits me to 2mb currently, and I already am using 1.67mb

I was able to install the FLMM but am still unable to activate them. All I keep getting is " this is just a test run". All of the files are in the FL directory. Any suggestions ?

What does the log say?

Post Wed Apr 23, 2003 3:08 am

hey dude,

sorry cant seem to replicate the problem at all . even tried combining it with another mod it claimed would conflict (rapids tie pack - no conflicts but what a blast). damn thing seems to be as stable as a rock now -tried every combination of options i could think of.

no biggie on the mod front - though id appreciate any feedback you may have ;-)

sorry i couldnt be of more help dude,

thank doc del, i reinistalled FLMM and it fixed the flmm.bak bug for mbases.ini

if i am able to reproduce that problem again, i will for sure take note of what caused it to happen.

no probs,

rapid did you get my email about the icon thing? - think ive got it down to a fairly easy set of steps - turns out i was doing it the complicated way ;-).

managed to get some web space so if i can set it up and add a little more content to my mod ( ill get this bird of prey to work yet -theyll probably have worked out cloaking, sur files and gods telephone number by the time its ready ) we might be able to have startrek / starwars battles after all ;-) ( since their didnt seem to be any conflict with the mods)

I sent a polite e-mail to my host, and they upped my disk space to 5mb! Woohoo!

Your mod is up for download now, Dr Del

I'm working on figuring out the ACCESS_DENIED problem now, and will hopefully have some more information soon.
