Spectre is referring to Chloe Annet. I think Clare was a better Kochanski - but Chloe was better looking!!!

Yes, Chloe Annet is who I meant. And I agree she is better looking, but I don't remember her well enough to make a personality comparison to Claire Grogan. In my mind Claire was sort of an odd girl for Lister to be fixated on. She looked attrocious in that uniform, as most uniforms aren't meant to accentuate anything nice. She had the awful, weird haircut, but she had a cute demeanor.

Esquilax, how tall are you?

Yes, Clare had something, but it was hard to put your finger on what exactly. Besides, she was the first, and the first is usually the benchmark by which all successors are measured, just look at James Bond (I'd prefer to LOOK at Chloe though).

Just a little taller than you; about 6'6" or so, possibly a bit more. It's been a long time between measurements. The only problem is that I keep hitting my head on things, and I'm developing a hunch. It's not fair! Everything is designed for the average person, when statistically, they do not exist! Damn you small people!!!

are you taller than the average kangaroo?

back on topic - finally - for me Red Dwarf died the day Rimmer left. The only highlight in the whole series after that was the "dream" return of Rimmer, and Rimmerworld "he's Arnold Arnold Arnold Rimmer, without him life would be much dimmer" then after that it was just lame. Of the final series, only Krytie TV actually made me laugh, the rest of it you can keep.

for me Red Dwarf died the day Rimmer left.

I've obviously watched too many of the early series's, I don't remember Rimmer leaving... I thought the last series was series 8 which is based in the ships prison. I know for a fact that Rimmer is in those. He and lister get pissed on almost just a sniff of some home brew. Are you sure he didn't come back after missing the 7th series or something? I'm ashamed to say I have no idea

Speaking of Rimer and ends, I can't remember which episode/series it is but it's hilarious when Rimmer mets Death and knees him in the groin then runs away shouting "Only the good die young!" while Death folds up and groans "That's never happened before!"

thats how Series 8 ended. We havent seen anything since. Its a bit open ended for the end of Red-Dwarf methinks and with the *cough* movie *cough* i think the future is still up in the air. The movie will ruin my DVD collection though

Rimmer leaves before series 8 to be the new Ace Rimmer (there's always an Ace Rimmer you see ) and Chloe Annette comes in to replace him. But the series really dragged after that so they had a dream sequence in which Rimmer comes back and him and List start snogging, that's when Listy realises it's a dream. The crew then go to a simulation called Rimmerworld which is a Rimmer space themepark, and it's frickin hilarious, dancing singing mini-Rimmers everywhere.

Post Sun Jan 11, 2004 10:26 am

Presumeably Rimmer comes back for series 8 then because I know he's there for the whole series. I've just remembered one of the episodes in that series - Casandra (sp?) when the crew investigate a derelict space ship which has a computer on board that can see into the future. The computer (called casandra) sees that Rimmer is going to (in a roundabout way) accidently destroy her so she tries to get Rimmer and Kochanski to *ahem* so that Lister will come in and kill Rimmer... It's all a bit confusing because Lister has Rimmers outfit on so Casandra actually makes a mistake...

Did any of the Brits here catch the piece on Red Dwarf on that "100 greatest British sitcoms" show? They had footage from a Red Dwarf convention in the US. A little 11 year old stands up with his loving dad behind him and perfectly innocently asks, "What does smeg mean?"
Two of the cast dropped out of their seats pissing themselves laughing and then crawling off the edge of the stage. t'was pretty darn funny!
