Righty IM BAAAAAACK
i just managed to squeezed three weeks work into three days.. now hopefully i pass
but anyway back to business, where are we at people?
i have to format and re-install yet again, because freelancer has just DIED, i blame my nephew.. and / or SP1 for XP ... hmm

Dude how are the models for the ships coming along?
'Cos if we tack the specs that Bob has come up with to those mad (friggen excellent) models of yours i think we have a seriously wicked mod on our hands once we get past the whole 'damn its so hard to do everthing by hand bit'
Hmm on another note.. looking at Li01.ini, there are like 160 pages of info setting up just the one system, has anyone noticed any threads about system creation ** or even better a system creator app **, because its a nightmare to do by hand.
I know its possible to add completely new ships to the game as it stands so we wont have to 'replace' any, but at the moment im not too with it on the infocard aspect, Theyre all in XML and wouldnt have the foggy'est about em.
I tried creating a completely new universe.ini the other day but the game wouldnt have a bar of it... but i think that might be summat to do with all the other references to the Universe.ini all over the place.. needs some investigation... Sorry for rambling but i got soo much stuff whirling behind my eyeballs at the mo

Edit: Holy HECK!!! no Bob nothing came to a stop since i took my leave...
I just re-read the forum and theres a hell of a lot of stuff heer that wasnt before if it keeps up this way im gonna have to grow another couple of eyeballs, an lcd monitor and an integrated keyboard to keep up

Okies I've just added the Centurion made by stannum, for sale on Helen i must say i like it
Though i need to play around with the loadouts, ive used the anubis as the base model for it... mostly because i think the anubis has a similar loadout 4 guns, two missile/torps, and one turret.. im flexible
This has been a bit of a nightmare.. one little mistake in the shiparch.ini and the game wont work.. so it took me some time..
so it only costs a grand at the moment but ehhhh
whats next on the agenda? i spose i'll have to make weapons and shields and commodities available on the bases... hmmm

I sent ya an email about the cutscene and the ship not appearingin them, but thats likely my fault. I had to use the
LOD_ranges = 0, 99999, 99999, 99999, 99999
to get it to appear at all, but thats an issue with all of the user created ships so far... maybe one day someone will suss it out for us

Stannum, what hardpoints are available on the Centurion? i have 4 level 6 guns on it at the moment...
Oh and should we stick to the original prices for the ships? 200k is pretty steep even for a VHF.

Umm right just a random thought, for those of you who have 'flown around' the Troy system, Is it TOO big?
I myself am of two minds... It feels big cos its empty, and praps things are spread too far apart, and it takes too long to get any where. But the original systems in privateer weren't that small either, it was only the autopilot feature that made them seem smaller..

I haven't noticed it feeling TOO big. Most of the systems in Freelancer are pretty big, but they are populated with more planets, bases, asteroids, debris and ice fields, dust clouds, etc. Troy may seem pretty bare right now, but I figured other features could be added before the mod is finished. Also, I'm sure that adding encounters with enemy ships will greatly change the feel of the system.

I have screenshots of nav maps for 30-something systems from Privateer if you want to add them to your website as mod resources. They can be found on the pages linked below:
Clarke, Fariss, Humboldt, and Potter
I'm going to try to get the rest of the systems done in the next few days.
