Would Arilias's proposal be acceptable to me...let me thinkNO. non. absoluement non. I got past. And excuse me, if we're going to be so realistic as to assume that military mistakes can be made, why are we stopping short of realism when saying Houses can't use jump holes? Frankly, this game is disgustingly unrealistic at times. Your force could have been thousands of kilometres away from the jump gate at the time when mine went through. Plus, I could have been so far below your ships that your scanners wouldn't have picked me up, and then slowly went through to Honshu. Or as I said, used a jump hole. There are a myriad of ways thourgh which I could have gotten into the system.

Now let's just let this freakin thing die! (However, I can understand why you're being such a stickler and a pedant--it's one of your systems, after all)

We can have a verdict on locking jump gates, frankly, I really don't care about that. However, if you do control a system, the jump gates should be under your control, therefore you can lock them or disable them and no ships should get through. Jacob, you have the verdict on this one.

Umm most jumpholes are in debris fields that battleships would not fit into.

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 2:39 pm

Also, my turn for today:

Military orders: all forces in Honshu attack the Dragon's or Corsair's bases in Honshu. There are no forces there currently. Just saying, none of those can legally have been built since Nov. 15th when I took over control of Honshu.

@ vorticaldwarf: You going to defend yourself in New Tokyo or what? Otherwise I'm just rolling over.

Rhineland turn 15

1. I place the destroyer in Honshu and the dreadnought in Hamburg. The VHF wing will go to Weimar.

2. I build 5 VHF wings 100 credits/ 25 M/ 15 H-F/ 10 O. Also, a fighter wing is sent out to search for new systems

3. (I'm not sure if the Outcasts have answered this, but I'm too lazy to check) I propose an alliance to the Outcasts

4. Posted above. Also, I'm attacking Planet New Tokyo (and have been for a day)

5. I collect 220 credits, plus 1605 = 1825
commodities: 175 M, 100 H-F, 59 O, 132 W, 219 F

Most jump holes in debris fields? What have YOU been smoking? besides a battlehships armour would be enough to deal with small bits of wire and ship.

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 2:43 pm

PLEASE LISTEN TO EVERYONE AND POST YOUR TOTAL FORCES EVERYWHERE!

There are no bases in Honshu for either the Corsairs or the Blood Dragons anyways.

BHG turn 13 (Uh oh....)

Credits:

+ 6 O/ 8 H-F/ 9 F/ 16 H2O/ 6 M

have 3 Lf squads 2 Hf squads and 1 vhf squad at each base. 3 trains at deshima, now moving to liberty space to facilitate trading.

Preparing to build "Wisdom" shipworks in Freedom system (It's right between the two borderworlds systems linking shikougo and colorado)

Stations:
Deshima: Shikougo
Sheffield: manchester
Justice: Freedom
(Wisdom): to be in Freedom

The BHG is looking to purchase a battleship after the construction of their fighter shipyard as the foundation of the BHG's new anti-criminal navy. They will be willing to pay in full, in resources and credits for it. Afterwards, they will construct a new captial ship shipyard in Freedom

CNN FLASH

We have just recived word that a terrible new force against criminals and possibly rhineland is in the making. The BHG has just been found to have asked to buy a liberty battleship as a cornerstone of a new navy for use against criminals, and possibly to bring rhineland back into order. We will have more news on this as the story unfolds.

Captain of the Kep Salu

Trekkie and proud of it!

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 3:49 pm

Rhineland is affronted by the accusations it is out of order. Officials say that the BHG once again are operating out of ulterior motives, as this has come from nowhere. Kusari is attacking an ally for no reason other than they are are a militaristic people who thirst for blood and war. We are responding to the call of duty by once again unfortunately calling an attack on Kusari and their crime-loving ideologues.

OOC: Richardson, stay out of this one. This is already a 2 on 3 battle, okay? Sisko's approach is better--send peacekeeping troops until the conflict dies down but maintain neutrality.
(As a side note here, if you did attack us you'd be helping the Corsairs and Blood Dragons--criminals. You're the BHG. You should technically be fighting the Corsairs as I fight them...)

@ Triyun: Oops, I made a mistake between VD's post and yours.

@ VD: You don't have any bases in Honshu. I took them all, and they are all mine...all mine

My total forces...that's going to take a while to figure out, I'll do it later in the evening.

What has he been smoking? Presumably air, because most Jump Holes ARE in particle fields (which is what he probably meant by debris fields; particle fields means asteroid fields, ice fields, debris fields, scan-blocking field, etc.) which are inhospitable to battleships. The only documented case in the game of anything bigger than a gunship in a particle field is the scene where the Osiris first appears, and even then the Osiris and the Rheinland battleship there presumably came out of a Jump Hole.

Yes, some Jump Holes DO form outside of particle fields. The only one that springs to mind, however, is the New York/New York Jump Hole.

Mainly, I'm just arguing because I think it's a bit silly that you so easily circumvented his front lines. You had to fight his guys to go through the Sigmas, and if you went through Liberty than you have some explaining to do to Sisko3.

Edit: Not that it matters. The Kusari fleet could just swing around and nail you from the Sigmas (yes, they CAN do that, since you have no way to block their entry)

OK. IF YOU READ A COUPLE OF PAGES BACK, JACOB SAID THAT WE(AS IN SAMURA/RHEINLAND) COULD RETREAT BECAUSE OF A MISTAKE. I haven't been able to take my turn becuase of all this B*tchin thats been going on about who's been retreating, who locked the juumpgates, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! This whole fricking problem is getting on my nerves. So HERE IS WHAT I PROPOSE!!
How bout we all call this war quits because the reason for it was that i wanted to build some bigger ships. How bout we declare war when there is something to declare war on like an unprovoked attack or something else of improtance. As of right now all were doing is wasting post room. So right now Samura proposes an end war treaty with everyone.(I don't care if it's not real, deal with it.) Let's just get one with the game or restart it!

Most people fear the unknown.
Most people haven't met me.

Wilde, your ally makes a compelling threat.

I secede the point, and will stop arguing it. You can have ships in Honshu.

You'll still have to fight the fleet in Sigma-13 this turn anyways.

(Much as I hate to admit, though I quite often find myself drawn to throw Wilde into a minefield, the game wouldn't exactly be the same without him)

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 4:28 pm

First, ww2jacob never posted the results of your illegal attack on Honshu. Therefore the bases are not yours you would have to fight me for them the same way I would have had to Fight Samura if they hadn't self-destructed their bases.

You know, I could understand your being difficult about this before, but now that there is a perfectly reasonable solution for everyone you are just being ridiculous.

Since it would appear that you will never see reason I hereby send my entire fleet to attack you in Honshu. You can't run. You can't hide. You can't call the magic cloaking fairy to wisk your ships into another dimension. You wanted a fight, well now you've got it.

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 4:34 pm

Why thank you, Arilias.
A minefield...that would actually be quite fun...

hmm..gunblader, your argument is reasonable but...(i really want to take over all of Kusari's systems...) fine. An end-of-war treaty will be signed, but I still own Honshu. And Rhineland forces basically own New Tokyo now (as its been a full 24 hours since I called the attack), so vorticaldwarf only has 3 systems. Too bad, dja know? Just too bad..heeheeehee. We will, however, allow Kusari fleets to travel unharmed through Honshu and New Tokyo from Sigma 13 just this once.

I agree, however, that people should stop (scuse my language) pissing over spilt milk. LITERALLY. STOP PISSING OVER SPILT MILK. ok. So now, let's get on with this rpg. Rhineland signs the temporary armistice.

@ VD: Uhh...well, all your forces were in Sigma 13. And as I said, stop b****ing about it. It was a perfectly legal move, and furthermore there were no forces left in Honshu to guard it. Will you sign the end-of-war treaty or not?

Gunblader has a definite point. This is just cluttering up the rpg, and besides its boring.

@ Arilias: Well, they are nailing me from the Sigmas, but frankly I have a force a great deal more powerful than theirs, so they're ****** if VD doesn't sign the armistice.

We've been going over star formation in Astronomy class these past two weeks, and most asteroid and other particle fields are debris from older super giant cores. Thats why I'm used to referring the as debris field.

The BHG is not violating its principles by siding against Rheinland, after all the Corsairs are recognized as a legitimate government for all but Rheinland at this point.

I accept Samura's peace deal, however, our assualt on Kurille still stands from las turn since it was made before the peace treaty. We propose Samura a non-aggression pact and will allow Samura ships that are on peacable missions to pass unimpeded through Corsair Space. I hope Rheinland withdraws to its space and makes a similar offer.

Corsairs officially declare Sigma 17 and 13 under its control. We hope that this will bring peace to these embattled systems by bringing them in openning them up to membership. We ask that Liberty deploy peace keepers to help us secure the systems.
