So after all the evidence was The Honshu post legal?

Another thing. I though it was decided that the jumpgates could not be locked destroyed or otherwise tampered with?

I'm totally against the jumphole additional turn rule on the ground that the corsairs never have used jumpgates nor has any other illegal faction and have excellent mapping of all jumpholes. That probably should apply to houses since they don't know the location of them, but not revolutionaries, pirates, and smugglers. Also Jacob again, please tell me the results of my attack on Kurille in Sigma 17. And why Rheinland and Samura are able to back out of a battle we had the advantage at without even a scratch on them.

Btw, Jacob, I can still move to take over criminal bases in the Omega 7 & 11 systems right?

i can answer that. It was a glitch in the rules. Technichly we couldn't but Jacob said we could this one time because he forgot to post something related to this in the rules.

Most people fear the unknown.
Most people haven't met me.

What Triyun mentioned before about retreating would apply to moving through an occupied system as well. If an enemy can just run his fleet through an occupied system without so much as a second glance, then the whole strategy element of trying to controll key systems becomes pointless. Everyone's systems would be open to attack from all sides.

Actually if this becomes a precedent then Wilde will be hurt by it as much as anyone else since unlike New Tokyo, New Berlin is exposed to border worlds directly at several points.

This is my turn its just after midnight here in San Diego but I just got home and was waiting all day for my battle results. I will post this turn and my next. Do not worry I have no battles progressing in this turn but simply have seized assets of a corperation within the borders of Liberty Space.

And if it will make everyone stop *****ing about how Rhineland got forces through to Honshu without being stopped lets just say over the last two turns he set his force through Liberty Space and up through a corridor held open in Kepler or Galileo.

NOTE TO ALL: We really need to post how much ships and stations you have and where so we can avoid things like this. it goes for both Rhineland and its allies and Kusari which was confused about where it had forces.

Now for my turn:

@ DeathSpike: You can't lock Liberty out of Magellan. We already had a Battlegroup in the system and were engaged with the Hackers in a fight for Mactan base. Which I am now proud to say is under the control and management of the Liberty Navy.

Also Liberty Claims full rights to the Magellan system and respects the Zoners decleration of neutrality. No Liberty military forces will attack any of your stations first without givening you a strong warning first. So basically if you try and lock us out or attack Mactan base you will be seing a repeat apearnce of a Live fire target practice demo. (sorry just a little edgy so many hostilities on my other borders.

LBN Special Report: (Liberty Broadcasting Network)
By order of President John Sisko the Liberty Security Forces have arrested one Vance Halliburton for charges of fraud and herby confiscates the Ageria corporate stations of Detroit Munitions and Pueblo Station in New York and Colorado respectively. LSF investigators have uncovered secret documents that link the arms producing corporation to the LIA (Liberty Intelligence Agency) and was fully funded from Clandestine Operations Funds. With this information President Sisko along with his Attorney General agreed that both Peublo Station and Detroit Munitions be seized and turned over to the State.
As Liberty Security Forces accompanied by Liberty Police officers approached the station a number of transports were spoted fleeing the area at maximum cruise. The LSF in a press breifing today informed the Liberty press that both stations will be pressed into military survice. Peublo Station is now being refited to act as an early warning station should the current Kusari/Rhineland conflict spill over the borders. In conjunction with stations newly built in the Kepler and Galileo system Liberty Military leaders are confident that our Kusari Border is now secured.
With the departure of the Battleship Yukon and her escorts many Liberty citizens were concered of a possible Liberty entry into the Rhineland/Kusari conflict. Rest assured that this is not to be. The Yukon has left for the Colorado System to reinforce the Battleship Mississippi and her group to defend the system should war spill across our borders. A similar move has ocured as the Battleship Missouri has left Magellan under escort for Texas.
With LBN this is Kim Phan-Tau signing off.

Sorry about the long post but its a little payback for having to read so many argument posts over who deployed their forces to which system first. why not take all forces your currently arguing over and have them fight then you can say well ****e looks like he does/doesn't have control over the system now.

I garuntee even though you got to Honshu first Kusari will counter attack and theres just going to be a battle there.

*ahem* there are ways to send my ships past you...slowly, one by one...or cloaked. And hey--have you ever heard of the three dimensionality of space? I could go under your ships and use a jump hole. Or some such thing.

I'm not going to post my bases, because if anyone wants to check out my bases they can just go to the nav map on TLR homepage and find one there.

RE: about jump gates. You may not be able to destroy them, but you can lock them if they're under your control. However, if the gates are locked your own forces shouldn't be able to go through.

The question about Kusari is, are they going to face me in Honshu (which they will have to) or in New Tokyo? Which one are they willing to lose?
Anyways, they can't get through Honshu, so they will have to fight me there. Jump gates are locked, however, so they'll have to take the long way around (through the Sigmas, Omegas, and all the way around to the Taus).

Kusari forces in New Tokyo, please?

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ww2jacob could you PLEASE put a stop to this. You CAN'T lock jumpgates. Cloaking isn't even supposed to be MENTIONED let alone used. And to get a fleet with anything larger than gunboats into and out of a system would require a jumpgate. Capital ships would not fit through a jump hole. So lets think about this logically. If I wanted to defend Sigma 13 from an imminent attack where would I position my fleet? AT THE JUMP GATE!!!!!! Therefore there is no way you would have gotten past me. It's like saying you could roll an armored division through the middle of New York City and no one would notice. To get through Sigma 13 you would have 2 options.

A. You could have taken the trade lanes and been detected and intercepted almost immediately.

B. You could have avoided well traveled routes but since your fleet couldn't travel any faster than your slowest ship it would have taken you at least several days also giving me more than enough time to detect and intercept you.

v

sorry for shouting but this is really getting out of hand.

First, a clarification for Sisko3:

There are no Zoners in Magellan. Freeport 4 is operated by the IMG (a faction almost, but not quite, as neutral as the Zoners).

Next:

Wilde, I can see no way your ships could get to Honshu. The move was made after a declaration of war, and in order to get there you would've had to go through:

a. Shikoku and New Tokyo

or

b. Sigma-13 and Sigma-19

Sigma-13 had all the Kusari ships in it at the time, and its safe to assume they had SOMETHING in New Tokyo, if not in Shikoku. Now, the point of having ships in the Sigma Cluster would be to stop Rheinland ships from flying through there to Honshu. Now, we have a universe where space travel depends on interstellar "gates". You want to block passage between two systems. Where do you put your ships?

In front of the gate.

Rheinland could use all the fancy tactics they wanted, but unless they could get past the fleet that we can safely assume was right in front of the only way through to Kusari (for now, we will assume that the Houses cannot use Jump Holes), they aren't going to get through.

Space is three-dimensional, yes, but there are still chokepoints.

So, here's my verdict on the current situation:

1. Rheinland received false information regarding its fleet's position and supply lines (something that can easily happen; "military intelligence" is an oxymoron)

2. Rheinland, realizing it would not be able to reinforce the fleet in the Sigma systems, ordered them to retreat to Honshu, not knowing that the fleet that was sent to Honshu had never reached its destination.

3. The Rheinlander forces, unable to comply with the orders, withdrew to the nearest point they could (in this case, Hamburg).

Another Note: My internet connection is refusing to co-operate with me, so I'll do the math and such later. For now, just the diplomacy:

Message to the King of Bretonia

The IMG had a trade agreement with your predecessor, to take advantage of our resources and proximity to Bretonia. We wish to start said trade agreement with you again. Liberty has already accepted us into your triumvirate. The IMG can supply almost any resources you need.

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

Message to the President of Liberty

We understand that you require trains and freighters. If you allow us to construct an additional shipyard in Magellan, we will sell you trains at 65 Credits per unit.

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

i'm busy today, i will post the next turn tmr.

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 7:18 am

TO IMG: Permission granted. (and sorry about that didn't know it was IMG and not Zoners) Also any decision on my proposal of flat out givening you the Arizona system? it has two planets one Habitable and one terraformable.

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 7:50 am

No problem, I would've gladly unlocked the gates for somebdy as neutral as Liberty right now.

"I like liberty rogues, they make a funny little popping sound when they die"
10 points to whoever guess what I messed with for that

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 8:00 am

Again my bad. Its getting a little hariy on the border says one of my Admirals.

Post Thu Nov 18, 2004 8:00 am

To Arrilias: Thank you! finally an explanation that makes sense. I would have no problem agreeing to that solution.

To Wilde: would Arilias' proposal be acceptable to you?

To everyone: Please stop posting about locking and unlocking jumpgates. ww2jacob decided a few turns back that jumpgates could not be controlled directly by any player. If you want to controll acess to a system post a border patrol at the jumpgate. Besides, even if you locked a jumpgate you would only be able to keep out legitimate corporations and House Millitaries. The criminals always use jumpholes anyway.
