I'm 27 as of last Jan. WHY is it 'wrong' to control the weapons using an inverted mouse? Is it wrong simply because that's not how you choose to play games? Seems like a pretty jacked-up, single minded, selfish, silly way to be... I've always flown, targeted, etc., with an inverted y-axis in every game I've ever played. Don't have a problem with people that set up their controls differently than me, but when they tell me that a simplet matter of preference is 'wrong', and furthermore that it's impossible even though it's what I and thousands of others have been doing all our lives, then I have a problem.

This is pointless. How old are you guys?
BTW, I never said inverted mouse was wrong overall. I said it was WRONG in the context of this game (the way the weapons are controlled).

27 here as well, and I don't find it wrong within the context of the game. Besides, what other context were we discussing? Seems like the I never said it was wrong statement is more about semantics.
Since this apparently is not an option, I respectfully ask Digital Anvil to consider this option in a future patch. Overall, I love the demo and can't wait to get my copy next week. I've waited for a game like this for years and I appreciate DA's effort.

try, try and understand, tehy simply want all input from the mouse y axis reversed including the turret movement, when they move the mouse forward for the ship to dive, they also want the turrets to move down, surely this can't be that hard to achieve, all you have to do is swap the info comming in from the y axis around
INVERTED MOUSE CONTROL IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
Ok, now that the thread is back on topic, let me explain how it CAN work.
Give Freelancer two options: one for standard mouse control, one for inverted.
For inverted mode: When NOT piloting the ship, the mouse behaves as a standard arrow for targeting, etc. When piloting the ship, the arrow DISAPPEARS. In its place is a targeting reticle. You move right, the reticle goes right. You move left, the reticle goes left. You move up, the reticle goes down. You move down, the reticle goes up. INVERTED MOUSE CONTROL. The reticle is NOT fixed; it is simply inverted on the Y-axis. There is nothing hard about it at all. If you're saying it's impossible you're assuming that turret controls aren't inverted as well. If you put in a floating reticle to replace the arrow, the turrets become aligned with the flight controls.
Sorry to resort to shouting but inverted control is easily implemented, despite what others may say.

This issue has been brought to the intention of DA, and if they can, I hope they will offer the feature, but don't bet your horses... Maybe an expansion pack or FL2, if FL sells well...
I'll close the thread, because the first nice discussion has drowned in flaming and name calling, and nobody can disagree that this is the case here!!!
