I think docking camping should be fine, it means that you have to have a group of your sides ships to attack, which is usually the case anyway in any ctf game, gotta take out the oppontents defence in order to get the flag in the first place.

Cargo does not exist past a death, except for missiles/torps/mines.

An alternate idea is that as soon as one of your team docks in the opponents ring, then they become the flag. Once they die, its reset back to their base, and the next team member who docks there becomes the flag. Once that flag makes it to your base, then its safe.

How long are we going to do this for? Is it just a single capture, or a timelimited, # of captures in 2 hours, and if none in that, or if tied, then goes to sudden death, and the next capture wins?

The opposing team will not know your specific destination within their system. The Example is:

Team A Home Base is Planet New Tokyo. Their flag starts at Planet Baded-Baden in Stutgart. Team B home Base is Planet Stuttgart and thier flag starts at Shinegawa Station. Neither team knows where the other flag is starting from other than that they are in the system (Stutgart and New Tokyo) and that they are headed to their home base. The commodity idea has merit, but - it potentially would end up taking a huge amount of time, and that is not the desired outcome.

Maybe next time, we'll do a one way trip and will incorporate the freight.

Good Idea though....you gonna play? Email [email protected]

Best server I've found. Would love to join the battles but the damn thing is ALWAYS full

I'd have a blast bringing my 'cuda to the firefight. Probably would last too long though as I'm a really crap pilot!!

Hmmm, I don't know about the idea of not knowing where the flag is, its suppose to your flag, you should know where it is so you can defend it. By not knowing where it is, all the opponents have to do is avoid the trade lanes, and then dock, undock and avoid the trade lanes again. Pretty friggen easy if you ask me, the most that will be guarding a dock would be one ship. If you're coming in with a group of 3 or 4, they can head up each a few jumps along the nearest trade lane and take several trade lane gates out, thus giving the defending team no chance to defend their flag before it leaves the system.

If you do it this way I think your ctf is going to be over in a really fast time.

Just an FYI - when you look on other servers after 01 AUG 03, if you are wondering if it is me, look for [USBJustinian. I will be paying homage to the awesome server we are losing on the first of August.

Emails have been sent for tonights CTF...good luck all.

Hope CTF was a blast, I've been looking through the boards and I have a suggestion, in the future it might be a good idea if we hash over rules and procedures well in advance of an actual Tourney, all interested parties would have their say, when a concensus is arrived at then everyone interested can get a hard copy through email etc. of the agreed rules.
Then while in country, hold practice games to get it down to routine.
Some people, you know who you are, have come up with some truely inspired contests and suggestions for the same, but I'm sure i'm not the only one that thinks the play book can get pretty confusing....
