I think the 'No One Dies in 5 minutes" rule brainstormed by Twex makes sense. THere may be other ideas on how to handle it, and I suppose that's why we have a forum
One downside I can see to a 5 minute rule is that the more numerous side could simply dodge when they get the upper hand and deny another kill for 5 minutes. I doubt any 1 team would do this, i'm just trying to predict a problem. Perhaps a 5 minute rule applied only on the last man standing? To give him incentive to go for a kill? These brainstorm ideas are not rules in any sense, just ideas to help guide the event-leaders, who will agree with each other on a simple set of rules.
As far as why we need rules in the first place: The whole reason we are fighting over a system is for Roleplay, and maybe just a need for an objective as every game in existance posesses. Without rules we miss out on that. We miss out on that rush ("Guys if we lose this one we lose the match! Fight Well!". I'm not advocating gestapo nazi-style rules, but rather rules that we can all agree are logical and can be accepted by both sides. Rules which don't restrict unfairly, but which work towards making the event more fun for all players. Any questionable rules will probably go by the wayside and be replaced by ones we generally agree on in this forum. Twex's original set did alot to spice up the event IMO, but we had to drop the seeker idea as too comlex and unfair to LF's. This is an example of the evolution of a fair rules-set.
