If there was a war...
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!
@vinny - They didn't really win, but they DID sign a peace treaty
In my tactical advice, cosidering that pirates will stay out of this, these are the results. Also, calculated with EQUALIZER mod
(IMHO)
Liberty - Very hard to defend - all surrounded, and their forces will be too stressed to defend from all sides, thus, very likely to loose
Kusari - Has excellent advantage, not having many entrances, and most of their entrances are surrounded by asteroid field. That, could be a disadvantage as enemy can hide. In my calculation, they'll come out alive, barely
Bretonia - Has most advanatage, like I said, taking pirates out of this, there will be only couple of entrances, and are stuck on the side. Probably will win
Rheinland - While they have the most firepower and probably weapons (look at Rheinland secret CLASS 10 weapons!), they have been severely weakened by Nomads and Mr. Mad Chancellor Niemann. They'll hold for a whlie, but will eventually fall. Remember, Wastfallen(SP?) is their ONLY remaining battleship.
<NOT SERIOUS>
Order - They'll try to stop the war, but will loose and be annihilated by houses and Nomads
Nomads - Clean things up, and have their goal archieved
Humanity - Goodbye

I think that if the Corsair and Outcasts Allied then they could win because:
PROS: Super ships, nothing to defend, live off enemy trade
CONS: DONT have capital ships.
One of the best things about the Outcasts is that they dont trade with the other houses so going to war wouldn't affect their cardimine trade.

I'm gonna say that in a war, Rheinland would be the first to fall. Why? Read the info for Battleship Westfalen in Hamburg. It states that the Westfalen is the only battleship remaining in the Rheinland fleet after the decimation of the entire fleet in the 80 Years War with the GMG.
I don't know if any of you might have noticed this but my interpetation of this is that the Westfalen was the only surviving battleship of the fleet that went into Sigma-13. Obviously after the war they would've built more(which you trash in the SP story). So they have battleships floating around they just don't use them as bases as much as the other houses.
It all depends on what approach the enemy uses.
For example, if the enemy advanced by taking base by base, it would be a slow war, and making the enemy use it's resources would be top priority. In this case, Liberty would have the top hand with all it's resources, which would not run out as quickly, as well as they have the alaska system as a back-up.
If the enemy used commando waves (e.g. Twenty Outcast Sabres come in through jumphole in Nebula, attack station and escape), it would also be a slow war, but not as resource draining by advancing base by base at a time. I would say that the Outcasts or Corsairs would win , because of their strategic jumpholes and good ships.( I consider the Outcasts and Corsairs to be houses due to them having their own systems and their general population)
If it was a full out war, then it would depend on lot's of factors which I will not list here, due to "space" issues (Get it, yes I know it's lame). I would say that it would be a toss up between Rheinland (Dunno why, Liberty and Bretonia are badly positioned in a strategic sense) and Kusari (Good defence).
Remember there are no winners in war, everyone loses something.

This is what i think
GMG has access to all H-Fuel production so if they stop selling it to the houses, the fleets would grind to a halt and so GMG can be made richer because they could charge anything they wanted for 1 unit of fuel.
In Sigma 13, if ya hunt the Imperial Fighter wrecks, u get several of the Class 10 guns, so if Rheinland has THAT weapon technology then everyone is in trouble. Also, they go to Sigma 13 and recall all thier wrecks and repair them, forming a mondo death fleet.
Corsairs try to attack Rhienland from rear. They have to get through Omegs 11 (radiation takes care of a few ships), Red Hessains fight Corsiars (more ships lost) and Bounty Hunters deal with even more ships.
Corsiars beat Bretonia to hell by using hit and run tactics. Outcasts charge throught Bretonia to fight Corsairs, Bretonia beaten in the following battles.
Liberty caught in the Middle thus resulting in heavy causalties. They retreat to Alasks and Lane Hackers and Rouges destroy the gate, Liberty trapped for ever
Kusari go to meet Rheinland head on, stalemate in Sigma 13, Blood Dragons attack and Kusari fall back, leaving Rheinland to defeat the GMG and take control of all H-Fuel.
Rheinland then beat Kusari and win the war

Ok, I'm going to delve as deep as I can into this,
OK, the Houses have each declared war with each other, and have stopped trading with each other. Let's look at the strategic advantages/disadvantages of each.
Liberty:
Advantages
Liberty would have an easier time defeding it's capital, it has the least systems connected to it.
They have Battleships in each system, thus being able to protect thier planets from assualt.
They build Tradelane/Jumpgate parts. They could create new lanes, while other could not.
Thier fighters are the most agile
Few rouge factions to worry about
would have nomad prototype weapons after nomad invasion
Disadvantages
They have little or no resources left in any of thier systems, thus creation of new fighters will become extremely difficult
Less powerful weaponry than other Houses.
no H-fuel resources
Bretonia:
Advantages
Still has plenty of mineral wealth left, including gold in Dublin, would be able to replace electronic systems (gold is a great conductor
Battleship in each system, would be left on guard
only House, which can produce MOX - used in highly destructive weponry.
Managed to not fall under rhienland control during nomad invasion
Disadvantages
quite a few rouge factions to worry about
has no H-fuel or tradelane parts
Kusari
Advantages
controls all H-fuel in Sirius, therefore, can fuel thier ships the most, no need to conserve it.
GMG will side with them and the GMG whooped Rhienlands but in the 80 years war
Disadvantages
no mineral resources, once they run out of metal, thats it.
easiest access to edge worlds, therefore, has most to worry about attacks from outcasts and corsairs.
Lost all of it Naval forces after the nomad invasion
Rhienland
Advantages
still has pleanty of mineral resources, including copper, diamonds, etc...
most powerful ships out of houses, most powerful weaponry out of houses too, except for GMG
Military forces left after nomad invasion would have cloaking capabilities
MIght have some nomad prototype weapons
Disadvantages
Not much of Military left, most lost during occupying other houses
doesnt have any control of H-fuel
also has easy accss to border worlds, would have to worry about corsair Redhessian attacks
out of all that? draw your own conclusions

I'd like to address some related points made above, specifically Outcasts or Corsairs vs any house's military.
To use a real world analogy, this is equivilant to a coalition of Columbian drug lords vs the US Navy.

In my plan the order of falls goes:
(the confederation comprises: rouges, hackers, outcasts, GC, blood dragons, unioners, bundshuh, LWB, Red Hessians)
Bretonia by confederation
Kusari by confederation
Rheinland by confederation
Corsairs by nomads
Confederation(the outcasts and thier allies) by nomads
Order by nomads
Liberty by nomads
The nomads win outright

-To start out, this could hypothetically turn out like WWII in the point of Liberty & Bretonia (the allies) vs. Kusari & Rhineland (the Axis,) but that's beside the point.
-Liberty doesn't stand a chance alone; it will end up a Grand battlefield between the three other houses. Defenders and Patriots won't do better than as decoys. Their one advantage; their central location provides high mobility for attacking very quickly and then retreating to fortifications.
-Bretonia will be able to maneuver freely abroad disparate outer world systems.
The ships to select from are mobile and agile. The big draback is the close proximity to Rhinland.
-Kusary has a good selection of fighters and plenty of boarder and outer systems as buffers from Rhineland and Bretonia.
-Rhineland has the best fighters of the 4 houses. They got the good stuff.
-The best off would be an alliance between the Outcasts and Corsairs. The Allegiance of the Two Towers: Outcasts from the North, Corsairs from the South, would be a powerful team. If needed, the Corsairs can hide in the radioactive minestrewn Omega 41.
-Liberty will collapse with three fronts to hold; however, not before it uses weapon's of Mass Destruction on the Tokyo sytem (sounds kinda like Hiroshima.) It will then become a 3-way battlefield for minor skirmishes and transit routes.
-The first major fighting will then begin between Rhineland and Bretonia. They will attach at eachothers' throats via a war-torn area formally known as Liberty. The Battle of Britian(New London) and bombings of New Berlin will weaken both powers until what's left of their poplulation must be drafted and put into wooden crate and scrap mettle gunboats.
-Kusari will then despatch large fleets to eradicate the 2 remaining houses. It will already be weakening due to dispersed ambuses from remnants of Liberty.
-After gaining some control, it will have two new fronts from the Allegiance of the Two Towers.
=The Allegience has no need for Cap ships; mounted torpedoes can do just as well.
-Intel can win wars, making 3rd world countries into superpowers. (Tom Clancy in Opp Center: Mission of Honor <not word for word>
-With small intel oriented strikes, the Outcasts & Corsairs will rise and the Kusari will crumble. They can now change their names to that of Spanish speaking countries.
They will "Remember the Titans"
I dig too deep; oops, there goes the cable and power.....

Yeah, really, If there was a war, Hispania would pwn everything. I mean if four torpedos from weak Rheinland Valkyries could take out a battleship, then cap ships are pretty much useless, putting emphasis on fighters. The Bounty Hunters Guild will be destroyed in jobs for the Houses, leaving the Outcasts free to destroy GMG and continue onto Kusari while the Corsairs could similtaneously fight Bretonia and Rheinland. The houses would then (metaphorically) implode on themselves leaving all the territory to the Malta and Greek fighters.
I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon aswell, my view is,
Its all about alliances, no matter what the faction.
Rheinland, the poor guys, have one functional battleship, the Westfalen, and its falling apart on its own. They also have the Corsairs planning an all out attack and the GMG really dont like them. The GMG also handed them thier butts in the 80 Years War, and lets not forget the Bunschuh. Rheinland would get crushed without any of the other houses lifting a finger.
Kusari has the decent ships, the funky looking battlecruisers with the 'blades', and a pretty good technological basis. They are also somewhat in the GMG bad books, even though the GMG originally came from Kusari. They also have the hardcore Blood Dragons after them, not to mention the internal corruption. With a little nudge from the other houses or criminal factions I think Kusari will fall. Kusari was also the first to fall when Rheinland got nasty due to the Nomads.
Bretonia, with thier queen being a babe, would put up a decent fight. They have good ships, good weapons, and plenty of chemical smog to gas other houses. They also sit well with the other houses. They do have a problem with the criminals though. The Mollys have managed to keep the Dublin system out of Bretonian reach and those nerds die more in thier own minefield then in battle. The Corsairs are also dealing them damage and thier Cambridge Line is completely ineffective so what would thier other defenses be like? (plus thier war machines look somewhat like fish).
Liberty, being my favourite (though my opinion on this war is completely unbias), has the awesome battleships, agile though underpowered fighters, economic power, and mortal enemies less dangerous then mosquitos. Without direct confrontation with any criminal group other then the basic Rouges/Lane Hackers sort of stuff they are free to concentrate on the other houses. With a little negotiation they could easily get the Mollys, Blood Dragons, Bunschuh, GMG and mabye even the Outcasts or Corsairs to fight beside them or at least aquire the good they needed. With thier monolpoly on tradelanes and synth paste, which is the mayor food product of almost every planet, and even small arms from Detroit Munitions they should have no trouble wearing the opposition down. Liberty is also in strong with the Queen of Bretonia.
Boiling it down every other house has some tough eternal enemy dealing them critical blows all the time, except for Liberty. Liberty has the most friends and the least enemies. It also has Juni, and no-one wants the mess with her, unless its in wadding pool with raspberry jelly and no rules.
My vote's for Liberty
