Welcome, to Fantasy Island!
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
the original Battlestar galatica still holds up to todays tv, IMHO.
Buy yea most of tv is subpar to what they had on even ten years ago, with some noteable exceptions like CSI.
Blessed Be to all those that still dream of the flight to the stars.

@Taw: Somehow I knew you'd enjoy the Blake's 7 mention. Hi Mrs Taw!*Waves out window in general Tawaklanastanian direction* Grom's connection is correct btw, Landau played twin brothers who were in on a "caper" together. Very early episode?.
So Grom, pop quiz, name the movie where the cast tests each other regarding the make and model of car which T.V. characters drove,(easy peezy bit) and what did Rockford drive himself(sans google puleeeze)...or better...
...ooh...oohh...What about?....wait for it
...Dan Tana! Anybody watch Robert Urich in his shiny red t-bird? Deadly buzz!
FD's collection was more embarrasing than some of the cult stuff on offer by the rest of us, I mean, U.N.C.L.E, UFO,...Prinsoner #6 are just cool cult classics, FD probably has the pilot for Scarecrow and Mrs King hidden in the archive.
Personally I would love to see StreetHawk again.

remember UFO? the theme tune is my Windows start-up sound, I have every episode on DIVX and I still have my Shadomobile and 3 Interceptors, although i lost my UFO years ago and my mum smashed up my SkyDiver model in 1977 and if you look in previous threads you'lls ee I still have more than a passing fancy for Wanda Ventham.
although more to the point for FD would be Charley's Angels, Chips, Macmillan & Wife, McCLoud (sp?)(i liked that!) Quincy and my personal favourite of that era, The Rockford Files (c'mon Jim Rockford was as cool as a cool thing, you wanted a car just like his, I know I did)
aaah FD what have you done? I am the Grand Mufti of rubbish 60s/70s/80s TV shows! I have (and this is just a part of my collection) every episode of Thunderbirds, Stingray, Supercar, Captain Scarlet, Joe90, UFO, The Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, The Virginian, Casey Jones and the Cannonball Express, Battlestar Galactica, The Flashing Blade, The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Dad's Army, Are You Being Served? Star Fleet, The Champions, The Protectors (*In the Avenues and Alleyways....!" Man in a Suitcase, ivor the Engine, Cap'n pugwash, Sir Prancealot, The Herbs, Hector's House (hohoho I'm a silly old Hector) and the superlative Battle of the Planets (G-Force - always Five, acting as One!) and my personal favourite, The Clangers.
plus carefully selected episodes and moments of The Generation Game, Dave Allen at Large, Play Your Cards Right, Morecambe & Wise, The Two Ronnies, Vision On, That's Life, Jackanory, Play Away, Bagpuss, Ivor the Engine, Bill & Ben, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Chigley, Pogles Wood, The Woodentops (oh look Mother there's Spotty) and Muffin the Mule (although you can get locked up for that...)
and I can sing every single one of the theme tunes perfectly. god I really wasted my life....
ID: not Sh*tehawk, I couldn't bear that. Knight Rider, Airwolf, Blue Thunder - I'll put up with all those, but Sh*tehawk had nothing to commend it. Not even the theme tune.

Actually I was a huge fan of streethawk - I'd definitely like to see that one again. Perhaps Taw you were too old for it when it came out...I was about 10, so it was pretty much directly aimed at me due to the fact that i was still playing with cars and bikes at the time.
Never did understand why he never fell off his bike in "turbo mode" though...although I did enjoy the countdown to it rather than simply just having to press a button.
I know these were predominantly aimed at kids, but anyone remember "Star Test", "The Adventure Game" (grunda grunda), "Trap Door" (bbbbeeeeerk!), "Pole Position", "M.A.S.K", "Monkey", "Mysterious Cities of Gold", "Battle of the Planets", "Ulysses 31", "Alf", "transformers" (ro-bots in disguiiiiise), "Metal Mickey" or "The Box of Delights" (usually shown at christmas)...
...what about CHiPs, Different Strokes, The Cosby Show, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Equalizer (my personal fav), Quantum Leap, Mork and Mindy, The Loooove Boooaaat, Magnum PI (another fav), The Wonder Years, Max Headroom, Crazy like a Fox and of course the excellent Hooperman. No wonder I turned out like I did.
@id - I have absolutely no idea what programme that was!!

yeh I was bit old for the 80s and didnt do much TV watching after about '82 until Next Gen came along later on in the decade. def late 60s/early 70s is my era.
as a result of Fd's thread I spent hours last night d-ling Tv theme tunes from TV Cream, I'm thinking we should have a*guess the theme tune* competition with links to the akshual toons!
you were correct about Martin Landau right down to the episode details. And on a Columbo-related them, did you know that Cap'n Katherine *Thighslapper* Janeway played his wife in a short-live mini-series?

@Grom: It was a "movie" not a programme. Columbo's Pug was mentioned as far as I recall which is what reminded me of it, as was David Banner.
Pole position rocked. How about G-Force which I reckon is the original such cartoon, a little more 70's but a defining moment in my taste of movie and gaming ever since.
