Time to play...Name That Movie!!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

You have to roll your Rs when you say this one...Brrrrrigadoon I believe sir. It wasn't Gene Kelly though who said that line...it was the other fella.

Yet again my wife got that one not me. When you start quoting musicals, you're completely in her world.

Ok following suit....suggested by my wife as she was the one who got the Brigadoon quote...

"The next man that laughs is gonna get his head ventilated"

sucks pardner that'll be that thar Calamity Jane! great film... sounds like me and Mrs Grom have similar tastes. And she's a dam sight better at spotting mah film quotes than you are, it seems.

yes it was Brigadoon. yeh I know almost everyone hates it but I love it, Cyd never looked more beautiful, the songs are foot-tappingly endearing, the concept is delightful and the end always reduces to me to tears.

my turn again.

*it ain't fittin, it ain't fittin, it jes ain't fittin...*

VERY famous film.

Taw - Aye, the quote was from "The Dark Crystal". It's a classic movie, but disturbing in a way .

Post Thu Nov 17, 2005 2:16 pm

@Taw - is that well... the only thing that popped to mind is "Gone With the Wind", is that right? I think that Mammy says it to Ret. Is that it?

weren't you in that? or was that the Never-Ending Story?

Post Thu Nov 17, 2005 5:09 pm

Who starred in what now Taw? Who are you speaking to? Be specific, damn it!

Post Thu Nov 17, 2005 6:25 pm

If memory serves, floppy-eared, yes, but it was a canine-ish thingy, not a horsey hare thingy, Taw.

I know that Topher's right.

Are you knocking Falcor, the "Luck Dragon"!?! He was great! My past two dogs have resembled him a great deal as a matter of fact. Especially when the dogs place their heads outside the car window when driving .

Post Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:03 am

OK in what film was the line

"I know i shall meet my fate, somewhere in the clouds above"
"Those i fight i do not hate, Those i guard i do not live"

Never be afraid to try something new, Remember Amatuers built the Ark, Professionals built the Titanic

Post Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:06 am

not Falcor. do you have delusions of grandeur or something? I meant that long-legged pointy-eared thing with the mangled head of a rabbit.

Falcor <sheesh> dream on, bunny-thing.

well done topher! it was indeed Mammy, not being a stereotype at all, from *Gone with the Wind* Your turn i believe.

(I'm going to have to start making mine a LOT harder)

trekkie, that's a poem by WB Yeats, *An irish Airman* iirc. Never knew it was used in a film, unless it was a film about Yeats' life and work (Sailing to Byzantium is better imo anyway )

I'll here no dissing of falcor. He's one of those characters I just want to grab by the cheeks and wiggle.

@trekkie - clue?

@Gromit - Clue = War Film

Here's the quote!

"...and you head that way, straight as piss, until you get to the ocean..."

Post Fri Nov 18, 2005 6:29 am

3 lines same movie -

1. "What gets into these people of yours Gates?" 1st man

2. "Sometimes folks gets a mite testy Zimmer" 2nd man

3. "I don't want you Lawrence, I want the man who killed my brother."

grom, i wasn't dissing Falcor - I was pointing out that there's not much similarity between a handsome brave Luck Dragon and a strange underground-dwelling horse-rabbit thing that reformats his PC every 3 days.

well i have to admit you all have me stumped now.

trekkie - other than maybe Angels 1-5 or Aces High or The Dawn Patrol, I dunno. But i doubt you'd be into old films like those and i can't think of anything recent that fits. maybe Map of the Human Heart but i don't remember that phrase in it.

topher - no idea at all!

FD - other than some retro western like Silverado or Young Guns, 'cos it sounds western-ish and I know you have a liking for the genre, I dunno - again.

pah <shakes fist like Wolf from Gladiators) I'll get you next time!
