Time to play...Name That Movie!!
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, FD poses a very difficult one, which i happen to think is a Busby Berkeley musical called *Take Me Out To The Ball-Game* which I used to have on VHS as I'm rather partial to roles by Esther Williams, a very under-rated and now largely forgotten actress, often confused with Shelley Winters for some reason? And Big Frank's in it too and I happen to think Frank was a cracking actor. However as I no longer have the film in my possession, I may well be wrong. But I think I've got the era right. late 1940s?
anyhoo, my serve I think..
"Man is born crying. When he has cried enough, he dies."
only clue is that this is a translation, it's a foreign film.
if that's too hard, I'll give an alternative but I want the character who said it, name of the actor, and who he said it to.
"Hello "M for Mother" stand by to take over if anything happens"

Lordy lordy, yours are waaaay too hard mullah
The second one sounds like "The Dam Busters" to me...but there's no way I can remember the character OR the actor...not without googling anyway.
Helps if you say the line in a stiff upper-lip, "down't gow to tha waar dadday" type accent...
"hellow? M for Matha?..arr yoo therrrr?"
"heeya leada...woger woger"
lord only knows what your first quote was from though.

ok the first was a quote from the Fool in Ran. I'd have thought someone might get it
the second was indeed The Dambusters, Richard Todd as Wg Cmdr Guy Gibson on the r/t to Fl Lt Hopgood played by John Fraser, just before they start their attack run on the dam. Y'see, I wanted to use *N*gger's dead, sir* but you can't get away with that these days, can you, even though it was only the name of a black labrador.
your serve, plasticine dog.

I thought I recognized that quote, I have Ran on DVD, and if my memory serves me right, it is said after the old Lord Hidetora is exiled and in state of madness, after his two sons attacked him at the third sons castle, could be wrong though, 'sbeen a while since I saw that movie.

*ponders esky's quote* hmmm. gonna have to think about that one.
I've decided to keep my next one nice and easy...classic in fact...to keep this ball rolling (can you tell I'm enjoying this thread?!)
"You appointed me Big X"
EDIT: too easy - give me the character and actor as well.
EDIT 2: @FD - I never took you as a "Rambo III" type of guy!

I think the Hare's quote is from the Dark Crystal (gelflings yes yes mmmm skeksis want peace yes)
grom's quote is from The Great Escape methinks. Dickie Attenborough. *So, Sqvadron Leader Bartlett, for you ze var ist over...*
rambo schmambo, I'll swear there's virtually the same quote in Take Me To The Ball Game. I've never seen Rambo III or even II for that matter, I switched off I about 2/3 of the way through. Fd that must be your third Rambo quote so far...
Loc, correct. After Hidetora has been driven from 3rd Castle, Kyoami accompanies him and they end up at the site of Lady Sué's family castle which Hidetora destroyed years ago. The old tyrant is insane at this point but he appears to vaguely recognise the ruins, however Kyoami is getting very annoyed with him byt his time.

I'm sad to say I know that one too. Muppet Show, Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, the pun being that as he keeps saying *myth,* the woman thinks he's saying *miss* with a lisp.
it's totally my turn now; I've got the last 3 right.
"Well, most of my friends who have inferiority complexes are absolutely right. They're *not* as good as everybody else"
film title and actor please. *clue* it's one of my favourite films.
