This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

While I realize the core powers the droids, I still have to wonder why they would need to remove it from the rest of the ship. Could you elaborate on the power idea? The droids in episode 1 did not need a core on the ground. Even if they do need to be on the ground, the cores can still be destroyed as they attempt to leave atmosphere by cap ships in orbit. Pretty horrible design flaw...

If you remember, the crew on the ship activated the droids. There for, the lack of signal would shut them down. The circular part seemed to be the command part of the ship with the bulk in orbit.

they took samples of his cells before he died, S'Trooper, anyway it says so.

Where was Palatine being cloned, a book? Movie story, he dies, Chewy lives. Book writers take a bit of license in what they write with an existing story.

Palpatine was cloned in Dark Empire comics and was reborn on the new imperial center on Byss

Chewwie dies in Vector Prime, saving Han. Chewwie is actually really old.
