under pc rules, bouncers would become "door supervisors"

round here bouncers are refered to as door stewards already for male ones cant say on the female ones maybe they are still bouncers

Bouncers = Security, don't you think? The reason why I hear they are called door stewards has to do with public relations and liability, not PC. The establishments don't want people to think that they are the type of place that need or have bouncers on the one hand and, if sued because they roughed someone up too badly, it's sounds softer to call them door stewards.

PC stories are countless. Many of the most silly ones unfortunately are true. And that's too bad because in the beginning the intention was to raise people's awareness that certain words in common usage actually have very tainted and rather bigoted derogatory origins and need to be put out of common usage.

@sS, @Taw, nice rant me chum! Although I have to ask toward the Br*t*shness of it. There are people in your country that take issue with drinking Tea? Over here they have issue with drinking coffee and propose Tea as the alternate. I prefer Tea myself, English Breakfast or Irish Breakfast where I can get it, but I'm curious what they are saying over there about Tea.

it's not the tea per se, it's the milk, for a start. I get regular criticism for using full fat, sometimes even Gold Top (yummy ) when everyone else is using foul semi-skimmed. Apparently I'm supposed to consider not only my health but everyone else's (well everyone else shouldn't be nicking my milk then, should they?) oh yeh and the quantity of tea breaks and fag breaks I have. ok I have 12 cups of tea a day on average, but ay dustna necessarily take 15mins out to have a brew. I usually work slurping the thing. And i smoke a Luckie in about 4 big drags, i just nip out the back door. But apparently this seen as divisive and encouraging younger members of staff to smoke (wtf? they're ALL adults)

what a load of total claptrap. and I drink Ty-Phoo and PG Tips common as muck, me!

Nonono, you're the "senior" employee and should act as an example for the younger employees
That's a job I actually envy. Think about all the young minds I can screw up

About PC...The only PC I know is the one I'm looking at right now. That's all I'm gonna say about it.

Edit: Damn spelling.

It's better to chase a rabbit then to catch a hare...

Perhaps this is a good place to mention..

Somtimes I want to abreviate Port Commodore "PC" but that would confuse people as it clearly means "personal computer" and now political correctness! I also want to be able to say MF for "my friend" (example: well MF, I think that's a great idea!) but I doubt that'd go over well

zlo - I rememeber being taught (many years ago) that "female" originally meant "of man". If this is true, then "female" is the next word to go . It's a worrying prospect, eh? What is the alternative? Intead of male/female, we could have "non-gender specific individual". Mmm, a bit of a mouthful I'd say.

What I don't understand is, why PC and feminism seem to go hand-in-hand. Here's a perfect example; In "Lord of the Rings" (the text, not the movie) there are a number of powerful female characters. Yet there are complaints that these female characters do not have an active role, are not typical of the modern female, and are portrayed as weak, blah, blah, blah. However, those of you who have seen Peter Jackson's "Fellowship of the Ring" may have noticed that female characters (eg. Arwen) are given active roles because Jackson does not wish to alienate part of a key demographic. Think about it; even artistic integrity is being affected by PC. Ah, I weep for the future! Still, as long as we "discriminatory" individuals are still alive, all is not lost.

The above post is true, and by true I mean "false". It's comprised of lies, but they are entertaining lies and in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is "no".

woman/women refer men with woumes (the part where babies are created)

And I would tend to agree with your observation.

Back in the old days. Women were the one who were repressed, not we're getting our turn at at.

Women dominate men from the background. Most of us are too dumb to relize it however.

@Taw, thanks for the elaboration. I thought there might have been Tea nazis in England trying to undo English culture. There's enough people here in the US trying to undo our American culture.

@RILMS

So, I switch between almost worshiping women and hateing them with a jelious passion.
Me as well, but for a different reason. I worship them then hate them when they don't live up to my expectations. Nobody has any expectations of themselves or others anymore so they squalor away what is truly wonderful. Their lowered expectations stems from the PC crap.

Personally, I will always keep feminine terms feminine, such as "actress," and I will always hold open the door for them, even when they complain. To me it's about giving respect to them, not setting them apart to be separate, but to be held up as better. I will always give women respect even when they don't respect themselves. Which, unfortunately, is more and more the case these days.

ever have the feeling u were born out of ur time, sS?

the "opening a door for someone" thing is weird, I hold doors open for everyone, male or female. I don't hear complaints from men, in fact more often than not you get a grunted "cheers" or "ta"...surely its about respecting people...if a woman (or a man for that matter) had a go at me for opening the door for them, I'd slam the ****er in their face...harsh but fair methinks

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Don't worry about the love/hate relationship you have with women though, it's the human condition, we are all love and hate them. Lord knows I do, especially the way they run hot and cold all the time, it drives me freakin mental. One day your a hot sex machine, the next your a freaky disgusting slob unworthy of thier attention.
"Right, so what your saying is that your a schitzophrenic pshyco who has a complete inability to form and hold onto an opinion for more than 24 hrs?"

Post Wed Dec 10, 2003 3:32 pm

We have to love women. There the "rairer" gender. And by rairer, I mean that they are the ones that are desired.

Anything we perseave as sexy all comes back to how well the person is at having children. That goes for both males and females.

And I'm not sure I understand with women not giving themselves respect.

Let's put it this way, a woman puts herself into a "sticky" situation with a number of men or even one man ... the rest can't be said on this site. That's a woman who doesn't respect herself.
