Political Correctness and You

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

that's just atrocious, Rich. that just illustrates the ridiculous extremes that pc has gone. I'd have gone absolutley mental if that happened to me.

Maybe someone should explain "equal rights" to the bouncers in the anecdote . Well what can you do? If you act one way towards certain people, and a second way towards others, you will just cause problems for yourself in my opinion. As for me, I treat everyone the same way; family, friends, work colleagues, management types, males, females, animals, etc. You can have some VERY interesting convesations with a dog you know. All you have to do is fill in the blanks! .

By the way SS, feel free to go off-topic. It was just a suggestion. I do not wish to stiffle anyone's creativity!

@FF,

Ok, I'll grant you your negitive comments on my little test. But I do think that if women were brought up like boys, things would go better. The current thinking is make boys more feminin, which isn't working. So, why not try the oposit.

@richard7254,

I know excaitly what you mean.

I was watching 20/20 and a guy was telling a female co-worker the Signfeild joke about his girlfriends name that rymed with a female body part. She didn't get it. The next day he bought in a defenion of a clitoris. The day after, he was fired for sexual harrasment.

Sexual harrasment laws are a loaded gun for women. Men can use them, but are generaly laughed at.

EG: A woman grabs a guys groin. He talkes to his boss. The boss sais, "so what, maybe she wants to bed you."

EG2: A man grabs a womans breast. She complains. Offender gets fired.

Brian’s Philosophies Number 60: There is not much that you do that doesn’t offend someone somewhere.

bouncers, pah! kick 'em in the goolies and they go down just like anyone else. Never let size intimidate u, if u do then u'v lost a fight before u start. Winning fights is as much in the head as it is in ur strength or size.

You sound like my Karate instructor Taw

thanks for the pep talk Taw, I'll bare that in mind next time

It seems a good idea to me to be intimidated by size if you have little idea how to handle yourself (me) and kicking a bouncer sounds like a good way to end up in the hospital

The trick, of course, is to run afterwards

lol. that I can do.

Still, like grom (?) said, these bouncers are ex-cons. Bullets run pretty fast...

Too late now.

@Rich, I don't have to worry about sexual harassment where I work, because I work for myself. I'm what you might say a .... Freelancer ....

@Everyone, yes, I know ff made a similar point like that, but Rich hasn't heard that. Besides, ff was still dependent on wages and I am not.

Sorry SS. Great, now I feel guilty . Oh well, I'll find solace in this bottle of ginger beer. Mmmm, ginger beer; the nectar of the gods .

Oh, erm, poltical correctness right.

It is a generally believed that due to PC, women are hired intead of their male counterparts in order to create a PC employee base. I have directly observed this when working for various organisations *cough* Coles Myer. Has anybody else come across this in their business dealings?

I have a friend who would just love this thread. He is always complaining about PC. But...he doesnt have Freelancer or Starlancer, because he doesn't have a Windows computer (he has a Mac) *shudders* . Macs scare me because I dont know how to use them effectively. Im glad my school stopped buying Macs. (I bet this has become spam. Spam tastes good. Not computer spam, the stuff that comes in a can.)

PC has become a method of turning the fight for equal rights into a fight for superior rights.

Post Sat Dec 13, 2003 6:04 am

At UPS it's kinda segragated. The men work in the Hub and the women work on the second floor at computers.

And Marty, that did turn into spam

Post Sat Dec 13, 2003 6:22 am

Hmm, and here I was, hating PC, and tharefore thinking that men were better at computers than women. But I guess that is no longer true since the whole idea of gender roles dissapeared a few years ago along with socity when pc came along.

@gromit: Well, after hearing that story, I never want to get drunk! At least then I
could recognize the bouncers later. I donno about you, but I actually had
faith in the human race before reading that. Then again, it could just
be that their ex-cons. Mabe the lesson in all this is if you're going to get
drunk, do it at a bar in a better area.

@Marty: It's not a matter of using a Mac effectively, they simply can't be
used! Linux and Windows are the only 2 decent OS.

Post Sat Dec 13, 2003 6:41 am

@ Clone,

Faith in the Human Race?? The zell are you talking about? lol

Life: No one gets out alive.

Post Sat Dec 13, 2003 5:43 pm

@clone that was a bar in a good area!! Derby's not too bad a place to go out in all things considered. I lived there for about 8 years and that was the first bit of trouble that I had found myself in...of course you see stuff happening, but you can witness violence in any town, in any part of the UK, on a friday or saturday night. Its just one of those unfortunate facts of life.

@everyone by the way, I didn't say that the 2 bouncers were ex-cons...I said that derby is renowned for having ex-cons working doors. There is a subtle difference there. They could have easily just been violent ****ers.

Anyway I think you all missed the point of my story. The point was not to say "hey guys, look what happened to me, please feel sorry for me"....the point was to show you how sexism and political correctness can manifest itself in extreme situations.

Before the events of that evening, in answer to the question "would you ever hit a woman?", I would have always replied "no way, you should NEVER hit a woman, no matter what". But now my opinion has changed somewhat.
