arcon, shut up and learn the interface

The atmosphere is one of the things I couldn't get to work right. Whenever I went to erase the atmosphere that was inside the planet, it also weakened the halo around it, so much that it wasn't really worth doing.

Btw, FF, learn to speak without insulting people please.

odd, i can get the atmosphere to work fine :/

It takes a while to learn Arcon, it took me about a month of screwing around to do anything good with it.

Oh and Tach try merging the layers or flatten the image before you try to erase the atmosphere.

Yeah Mustang, that was the problem, though I figured it out on my own I also got the embossing to work right too. After I did my second planet, I did the starfield tutorial. The great thing about these are you get great results early on so you don't get discouraged, even if the only thing I can do right now is this crap

Here's the first starfield I made, which I used as the backdrop for this blue marble. I can't wait for him to make another tutorial, heh.

That looks frickin brilliant Tach, way to go.

Im doing a star field as we speak, i'll post it up once im happy with it.

Post Thu Jul 10, 2003 8:19 am

yeah, i make those 2, some brighter stars would look nice

Post Thu Jul 10, 2003 9:20 am

Mine doesn't top yours Tach, but here it is all the same. It is certainly a fair bit of fiddling doing those star fields, I think I used about 20 layers in that one and about another 8 with the planet. Good fun though, especially when im sitting around on holidays waiting for my new cpu and mobo to get here.

Sorry about the quality but I can only put up images under 100k

That's awesome! Looks like you went nuts with the embossing, hehe. I noticed that the dark side of your planet is still a little visible. It looks like you painted the planet normally then used some sort of darkening for the shadow. Is that what you did? Looks great

holy crap mustang, its gorgeous.

tell me how do you end up with a planet layer showing and the atmosphere? do u just make the atmosphere transparent?
