Mace: Ha. I was wondering about those. They looked so.. Stretchy? Yeah, stretchy. I wish I could tweak DataStorm to get it to look better. *muses*

Ok. Van Maanen's Star. Need a permit to land anywhere in the system. Would like to try the quest...........

So, where the #$@& do I find the permit? I have checked out every base/planet that I can think of and nadda. No hints to a permit at all.........

New Server:

Name: 24/7 Frontierspace 1.1 @ BS
IP & Port: 87.118.98.25:2302
Homepage: http://fl.ath.cx
Teamspeak server: 87.118.98.25 (BlueScreen TS Server)

@Ripper, i've updated the topic to include the details for your server.
@Oddball, I don't really want to tell you the exact location for the permit location. I'll just say that the permit is a bribe to gain access and that i wouldn't be so mean/stupid as to put it in a location where it shouldn't be. Try searching close to (but not inside) the Van Maanens Star system.

Hi OddBall,

>>>SPOILER<<< Don't read if you want to find out by yourself !!!

just talk to the bartender at the last station right before the jumpgate to
Van Maanen's Star system, he offers you a bribe to get access to the system.

On every further base/planet of the mission it's almost the same thing, just
watch out for a bribe and talk to the people to get important infos

(Actually these were the only possibilities for bribing a faction, as it seems
only the quest factions can bribed, all other regular factions have to be
shooten friendly/hostile.)

I had the same prob, just looked out for missions but never talked to anyone
cause noone ever offered me a bribe, and after a while I just didnt look for
smalltaks anymore, that was the mistake

Hi Mace, goodfather of FL mods

Any idea when your PATCH will be available ?
I'm so hot for it (and I guess a lot of others too)

Mace states in the mod's description that he dislikes bribes, so took out all bribes 'cept for the ones needed to do the quest.

Post Mon Jul 03, 2006 9:19 am

Fair enough. Cheers Mace. I wasn't looking for the exact location of that bribe to begin with. Just a pointer in the right direction. I should have been clearer in my post. I eventually found it, but the first couple of times I landed on that base, the bribe wasn't offered. That's why I enquired about it

Kuvasz,

Hope you don't mind but I completely ignored your post

Found something strange. If you use the nav map to plot a course in the Phekda system, the game C'sTD when docking with the Planet Phekda TL. If you just dock with the same TL without using your nav map to plot your course, it works fine

Hi Mace,

I have to post a CTD in Hamburg reported by a player on my server...

"I was docking in Alster Shipyard in Hamburg, when Fl CTD. After, i can enter server, but if i try to activate the char it CTD again."

I have also uploaded the server error log. If you want to check, you can find it here (http://fl.ath.cx/mod/logs/040706_fl-ser ... tartup.rar) this errors come directly after startup of the server. I hope this will help you a bit.

The patch can also be downloaded now from my server at http://fl.ath.cx/mod/FS11_patch_26062006.zip.flmod (if the other link doesn't work anymore)

Is your server 24/7? Where's it located? (and I don't mean your basement. ) I haven't done any multiplayering in a while, but FrontierSpace is awesome enough it looks like I will have to spend a bit more time getting killed by others.

So Mace, you will probably release an update sometime in August? I think that is just fine, as long as Beyjmac and Ripper still check into the thread and update the hotfix patch.

When it comes to the next version, i would like to release two versions. The complete full download and an update patch. As quite a few problems have been found i want the next release to be a big step forward rather than something to make do in the meantime.
I have found that quite a few of the errors posted on here i could not reproduce and they seem to be docking with bases and their base population. I'm hoping that once the other errors are removed it will be more stable. I'm assuming that in their case the base might have the ini entry too many type problem which might just be causing the game engine to say, "sod it, i'll just dump them on the desktop".
I've been given a few ideas for the next version and quite a few of them aren't going to be included. Its a fine balance between multiplayer and single player and if you gear too much towards one it causes problems with the other.
Version 3, (most likely v1.74), will be aimed at stablitity and removing mistakes. There will be very few additions to this version. There will be, however, an "events" system and the Eastern Coalition have unique repscreen entries.
I've got to admit that i have had less interest in working on this project since its release. It will be supported, but i'm not planning on spending hours of my time working on it right now. August sounds like a reasonable target seeing as i have so many (damn) errors to fix.
Cheers for you interest.

@Blank: Yes it is 24/7. It is located somewhere in germany at a hosting company. So there is enough bandwith for a lot of ppl.

@Mace: I hope that you will not give up in developping Frontierspace since it is the best mod i've ever seen. I understand that it will cost a lot of time for doing such a project and of course if you wanna do a break, that's ok. I only hope that you will come back to Frontierspace after your break and continiue with developping on a next release. (you are doing a great job and i respect that you spend your free time into this for us)
