I'm sorry if I got carried away, I've been "taxed" by clans on other servers, so when I hear the word I automatically go on the defensive, 50 credits is nothing to me, so long as it's going be collected in a co-ordinated fashion I'll play along, or fire on the tax collectors, . However I might suggest that you confine your operation to 1 nation group, i.e. the Liberty systems or divide your operation into multiple governments representing the nations in the game, i.e. Liberty, Bretonia, Rheinland, Kusari and also a Borderworlds Union. They would all apply the same basic laws you've laid out as well taking measures unique to their individual nations, this would allow for other's to participate in what your group is attempting as well as all the possibilities for border conflicts, smuggling, open warfare, diplomacy, etc.
Something to think about..

Mark,

Good idea. I am already thinking about having states or divisions. We are probably going to elect members to be governors of Kasari system, Rheindland etc. Also, I got the idea of having Tax Seasons. Our election terms are 2 weeks, so that is like 2 years. Taxes could be charged once a week, like every year. The tax amounts are not set yet and will be changed as needed to maximize PvP and to insure that we do not ruin the fun of any players. I think if everyone understands that this is role playing, then we might all have more fun. You also get to vote on issues even if you aren't a government official. Just like the real USA.

Falcon,

I feel like we already have too many members, since everyone seems to be very threatened and the clan rules aren't in place yet. We might have some unruly members that could give the [GOV a bad name. I don't know most of the members, so that makes me a little worried.

Hi! Many Many Many thanks to Brow for an awesome server, Freakzilla for providing funds that allowed me to wreak havok and deliver vengance on the dead man that bounced my little, defenseless stardier...errr....flier seconds after joining. I now have millions of well earned credits and would like to repay the gentleman, but he has thus far refused.....

ANYWAY! :-P~ The reason I am posting...I am ALWAYS on, and it seems like I always am dealing with an EMBARASSING level of LAG. I have done everything I can think of (including somethings that might shame the monkeys) to get my machine able to communicate better with the network. I want to play, as there are now a couple of people that I look forward to seeing - good and evil... Any ideas? My internet settings are wide open - no security to speak of, no firewalls, no allowing old files to build up, and only 18% system usage (peak). I have a cable modem through COMCAST (who sux by the way) and i am pretty closer to my local DSLAM (I think that's the right name) - only 500-no-split-line-feet away. Someone please help.

Just another idea for fun...Murasame and I were talking, as a joke, but I think it would be hilarious...you have racing in rhinos...how about capture the flag in dromedaries...??? or dueling in dromedaries???

Anyone who wants an 8 station, million credit route, look me up.

Thanks!

Justinian, you are certainly welcome for the credits. I have no idea how much I gave you, but I'll probably be able to survive without it. Use your new found wealth to help others in need As far as the lag issue goes, that's a tough one. It seems like sometimes the lag becomes unbearable but other times, it's not a problem. Don't really know what else to tell you there.

The Fringe Raiders have established themselves as the criminal element on Browclops. We are an anonymous clan, with no tags, and we deport ourselves with the honour befitting the pirate raiders that we are. (we do not PK new players, dock kill, cheat, or any of that kind of stuff)

We currently have no declared allegiances or enemies on Brow, but any unescorted freighter pilots may find themselves faced with the choice of sharing some coin or eating space.

We have already run afoul of GOV on several occasions, with big words exchanged by all, and even a few salvos. It will be interesting to see how this develops

'Ware... here thar be pIrAtEs !!!

Just to finish my part up, the money which is collected is gathered merely for events. Thus enough is gathered and throughout various events given to the winners so all in all, what is taken is given right back.

Consider this notice of independence your wake up call. The people and pilots of Kusari will not be taxed in our space. You have the right to establish your laws and your taxes in your space, but not ours. Kusari has been, is now, and ever more will be free from Taxation, free from Piracy, and free from oppression. We do not recognize the right of the Government (all [GOV) to enforce it's will in our space. You are free to transit it, but you will not be allowed to tax our citizens or pilots.

We are new, yes, and we will not carry our fight to your space - unless you force us to.

Fringe Raiders be on notice. We do not tolerate Piracy. If you attack any pilot of any clan in our space without notifying us of the just cause, you will be hunted. Piracy is not tolerated.

If you are interested in supporting our righteous cause, feel free to join our struggle. Typical benefits of membership apply - Protection, revenge, attacks against the wrong. We also have a supplier of LVL 8 - 10 weapons at Cost/Below Market Rate to tenured loyal members (YOU MUST PROVE YOUR LOYALTY TO THE CLAN FOR THIS ONE!) Email your new handle ({HRE}_) to [email protected]. A webpage is in the works. A logo and a motto contest will be held - reward stands at about 1 million credits right now.

Thanks.

Firestorm knows what role playing is all about!!! Everyone against the creation of [GOV should quit fussing and behave in a similar fassion.

If [GOV is going to be acting as a government agency in the sector, and I am to pay "taxes" (whatever), can I, as a merchant, expect to receive protection from Piracy? Does the GOV Clan guarantee my safety or retribute someone for pirating me?

I mean, lets face it - Having to pay for something, especially when the creds will be going to winners in contests is nothing fun. However, If I were funding an agency that would be looking to Serve and Protect like a Police Force or other Protective Government Agency, then I might pay. It would certainly be cheaper than the exhorbitant rates (35% plus) that I have to pay for a hired gun. Yes, I know i probably won't have an escort, but knowing that protection is nearby on a open system channel MIGHT (stress the word might) be worth a small tax on an occasional basis. It seems that it might be like using a tollway.

Any way it boils down, it has merit.
