unmodded stable server unlocked

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

unmodded stable server unlocked

server name is Browclops, 216.49.79.36 unmodded. 24/7, T-1, dual 1.4G with 1G RAM and Giga nics (not that it matters at 1.54Mb) It's quite stable, gets rebooted every night at 5pm EST, and backed up at those times. We'll start at 20 people and see how it goes. Myself and 5 others was no problem at all.

Other than that, have fun. Kill me if you like, just don't do it with a mod

Quick update:
We had 16 folks on tonight with no lag issues whatsoever. Will keep the 20 max on until we have pushed that a few times with no issues.

On another note, myself, Hawkeye, Tin_Bromide and Gene_Starwind literally slaughtered everything around Planet Denver for an hour straight with the jun so thick you could walk on it. Thanks for the fun guys!

Server Update, aka time to eat crow
Stats since opening up 10 days ago to the general public:
crashes: 2, both last night after banning 2 hacked accounts
total accounts backed up: 136
last 48 hours server up: 46
total hours sever public and up: 238/240
Banned accounts: 3

I can no longer claim no crashes, as the FLServer program went belly up twice last night after bad mojo dealing with two hacked, modded, cheated, whatever the term is, accounts last night. After the first program failure I installed the utility to auto restart FLServer (tested on another machine first, it worked), didn't like the 100% proc usage, found the 1.04 version, tested that, it worked, installed it on the server, then promptly fell asleep at the wheel without turning it on. I think the server was down from 2:30am till 4:30am EST when the drool dripped off the keyboad onto my hand and I woke up. I apologize for the interrution folks. I take this seriously and am trying to personally monitor the server as much as possible.
Lots of new folks past two days, I'll get some names up here soon.

Brown maybe you can do me a favor. Under a decent load, around 10 - 16 people, can you please take a look at your task manager under the Performance tab and tell me if the server load is being evenly distributed over the two processors?

The reason i ask is because alot of "game server"s are written without consideration for multiple processors. Windows 2000 and XP can only do so much to spread an application over the two processors but if you've ever read up on dual processor motherboards being benchmarked you'll notice that if an application is not written to take advantage of two processors, you will see only a marginal increase in speed, sometimes you will even see a decrease in speed because of the data overhead.

I'm just doing some research to see if it is worth making a dual processor server, thank you in advance.

Heya Zel,
I answered this under your other post. Thanks for doing the research so we don't have to

I seem to be unable to connect to the Browclop server this evening. I noticed in the server news that you have account creation disabled on the server. Does that mean you have to program in an account for me ahead of time in order to use it?

total accounts backed up: 597
last 48 hours server up: 48
total hours sever public and up: 694/696
total hours server up: 1174/1176

New accounts are no longer disabled. Had a lot of new folks to meet and I can't be on 24/7. Folks come to find we're always here with no data loss, so you can take your time. Question of the Day will get you $100,000 if you have the right answer, and the Rabbit Chase will commence in the evenings EST between 6 and 9pm. Be aware that anyone can be the subject of a CONSOLE BOUNTY placed on them, so be prepared to run like hell.

Kudos to Akira and her/his roleplaying yesterday evening EST, even after getting smacked down they never lost character. The everpresent Hawk came swooping in, only to miss out on a Browclops duel once again!

You sissies had better learn your trade routes and jump holes! Once again Browclops has eluded 10's of folks on a Rabbit Chase through countless systems, only to arrive safely within 1k of the Manhatten docking ring! Looking forward to some stiff competition next time!
