I'm assuming its turn 13, as that's the most recent reliable turn count I have.

In that case, calculating all the money I've made since my last actual turn (around turn 7), and of course, including the fact that jacob cut off trade at about turn 11...

Credits Left Over From Last Turn: 895
Commodities Left Over From Last Turn: 115 Food; 620 H-fuel; 948 Metals; 248 Oxygen; 280 Water

Total Credits This Turn: 1040
Total Commodities This Turn: 125 Food; 682 H-fuel; 1052 Metals; 277 Oxygen; 305 Water

Important Updates to IMG Commodity Pricings:

The IMG no longer trades commodities explicitly for other commodities. We buy and sell products based on how much of them we currently have, the current scale is....

Food Is Worth 5 Credits
Oxygen Is Worth 4 Credits
Water Is Worth 3 Credits
H-fuel Is Worth 2 Credits
Metals Are Worth 1 Credit

We are not currently purchasing commodities, but all of the above are for sale should a faction wish to make a purchase.

Message to the King of Bretonia

The IMG is hoping to create a well-protected trade route running through the Tau and Omega System Clusters as well as Bretonia, providing safer travelling for Bretonia/Kusari and Bretonia/Rheinland trade, as well as mining operations by any factions in these three regions. In order to better secure this area, we request permission to build a capital shipyard in the Leeds system.

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

I don't know if you saw but I offered an alliance between the Corsairs and IMG, that'd give you safe passage through our half of Omega 5 and Omega 41 as well as the Sigma and Omicron territories we operate in. Something you should consider.

Post Tue Nov 16, 2004 6:27 pm

I moved my forces before the battle began, so I actually WAS able to pass through. I think.

@ jacob: A peace treaty, then, or non-agression pact?

@ Arilias: I'll trade 20 credits for 10 H-Fuel per turn and 10 credits for 10 metals per turn...

Edit: ok, this is just weird. The Corsairs offer every single house in the game an alliance, peace treaty, or truce. Now it's giving an offer to the IMG. A corporation, the easiest target for a PIRATE organization...A PIRATE ORGANIZATION!!!! That's crazy. For chrahssake, you shouldn't even be allied with Kusari, not to mention friendly and at peace with Houses and House corporations. This rpg has been riddled with similar instances of complete stepping outside factional character.
I can defend, however, my alliance with Samura: it annoyed Kusari, and as we all know, Rhineland doesn't like Kusari very much.

I'm allied with Bretonia, for mutual territory interests and to cover my flank. I'm in a nonaggression pact with Liberty to watch my ass. I'm allied with Kusari to prevent the balance of power going to much in Rheinlands favour, one house dominating the Siruis Sector would be the worst thing possible for a pirate organization. Keeping the houses complacent in necessary for broader Corsair goals which is no longer so much piracy as forging a virtual house of our own. IMG having huge amounts of resources in the border worlds which much of it takes place is someone we don't want in our way.

YOU are a pirate faction concerned with using guerrilla tactics to bring down the large and overpowering Houses. Allying with Bretonia? In the actual game there are always a fleet of legionnares attacking Bretonian ships outside the Dublin jump gate. Countless missions are assigned in both factions for hunting Corsair leaders and ships. As for Kusari, it makes a small amount of sense to be at peace or trucing with themn , but alliance? Honestly.

One such as yourself would indeed want one house (Rhineland is in the best position for it) to dominate the Sirius sector. The very way pirate tactics prosper is under an empire that gets too big to control. Want some examples? How about Rome? Assyria? Mesopotamia? They all get too big and collapse under their own weight. As it is in Freelancer, there are several empires (large, but not overly so) and all of them attack the Corsairs with a fervour. If I--or another house leader--took over all systems, you would have one enemy. As it is, you (should) have four large enemies.

Does this sound a little out-of-character for a Corsair to anyone else?

(Rheinland also doesn't like Samura very much; or the GMG, for that matter. But that's besides the point.

As I believed we established earlier, the Outcasts and Corsairs have a very open-ended framework. They're technically a House (since the basis for sovereignity of a House seems to be a direct link to the government of whatever government launched your House's sleeper ship), but they're also technically smugglers, and of course they're also technically pirates. This can be very confusing.

That said, an attempt at a more passive approach is completely within character for the Corsairs. Their primary motivation in the game seems to be a lack of natural resources on Crete, which they are forced into obtaining via piracy. The Outcasts were the unforunate victims of evolution, unable to rejoin the galaxy because they had lost their humanity to Malta's Cardamine fields. )

Message to the Corsairs:

We accept your proposal for an alliance. I would like to remind you that the IMG intends to remain outside of the current Kusari/Rheinland

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

Message to the King of Bretonia and the President of Liberty:

The IMG has been operating in the regions near Bretonia for centuries. Now we are expanding - we are hoping to establish mines and trade routes across Liberty, Bretonia, the Tau System Cluster, and the Omega System Cluster (phew, almost used the term "southwestern Sirius"; using north/south/west/east to describe directions in space is one of my pet peeves). In order to achieve this goal, we wish to lend you access to our considerable pool of resources. If you accept us into your alliance, we will sell you commodities at half the rates for other factions.

Prices for Liberty and Bretonia:
Food - 3 Credits
Oxygen - 2 Credits
Water - 2 Credits
H-fuel - 1 Credit
Metals - 1 Credit

Prices for All Other Factions
Food - 5 Credits
Oxygen - 4 Credits
Water - 3 Credits
H-fuel - 2 Credits
Netals - 1 Credit

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

YOU accepted an alliance with a PIRATE faction? YOU? A MINER'S GUILD AND CORPORATION???!!!

Rhineland is offering peace treaties to Bretonia, Liberty, and the IMG.

@ jacob: If you're staying out of the conflict...enlighten me...why are you now allied to the Corsairs?

I move 50 LF, 2 VHF, 5 HF, 2 gunboats, 1 cruiser, and a battleship from various Rhineland systems to Sigma 13 to attack Kusari and aid my ally.

*ahem* vorticaldwarf, all your forces are in Sigma 13. Honshu is left completely unprotected, so Rhineland has assumed control and locked the jump gates. too bad for you! </font></pre>

if all my forces were in Sigma 13 (wich they weren't. I left a small defense force in New Tokyo which I later moved to Shikoku) and you were on your way to assist Samura then you didn't get past me.

@Wilde... The IMG is a reasonably neutral organization, second only to the Zoners in its neutralness. We don't WANT trouble, we want to get rich off of loads of rocks. If the Corsairs are willing to go legitimate (which, as I JUST got through explaining to you, is a perfectly in-character possibility) than the IMG has no reason to deny the offer.

Corsair Space is a nation state, AC, the primary function of a nation state is to survive, I've determined after what happened to this outcasts this was my best path to survival. Its way more out of character for an asian major corporation to defect a western based house, so be quite. Besides, I can't really engage in guerilla tactics if all the hidden jumpholes are suddenly known. Corsairs always believed they were a true house, they just lacked resources, I'm not strong enough to push Bretonia out of Dublin or Cambridge so I might as well rap that up, keep any house from gaining to much power by helping out Kusari, and take systems in Sigma while I'm at it.

Also for Bretonia allying, they did so as part of the treaty for joint ownership of Omega 5. We did put in the stipulation they did not have to defend Kusari space only if Corsairs got invaded did they have to intervene.

It would be ok considering in tha game they refer to North Rheinland fleet.

To IMG: We are glad to hear it and understand your relunctance to enter that war.

TO QUOTE VORTICAL DWARF ON PAGE 14:
I move all my forces to the Sigma 13 System.

Now on page 15 or 16 he said he had ships in others systems(not counting ships placed after he said all ships in sigma-13.)How could he do that when he posted :I move all my forces to the Sigma 13 System." without taking a turn. You all can look for yourselves to find out what i'm talking about.

Most people fear the unknown.
Most people haven't met me.

A Letter of Intent
To ALL Factions

Right now, I am trying to stay out of the way of this war, and wait for it to boil over. Hopefully, there will be a clear winner and loser, and then I will have to make some decisions. Bretonia has NEVER had any interest in the dealings of Rheinland and Kusari, and we have always peacfully traded between them, as well as with Liberty. Our allience with the Corsairs was a political move, removing us of our only potential enemy, and at the same time, getting us a new ally.
Basically, I have no intention of getting involved in the newest chapter of an ongoing conflict between Rheinland and Kusari.

Signed,
ww2jacob, King of Bretonia

OOC- On the Sigma-13 battle, I have gotten a little confused, mainly by people using the wing system, and others not using it. Here is what I have for the battle, correct me if I'm wrong, please.

2 Heavy Cruisers (RH)

2 VHF Wings

1 Battleship

DEFENDERS

Kusari- (All KU)

Hope that's right.

A Letter of Intent to all Factions;

In agreement with the Bretonian Government and King Jacob the Liberty people will remain nuteral in this conflict. We maintain that should hope return to the Kusari and Rhineland peoples and they would wish an end to this conflict Liberty would deploy peacekeepers to both of the current troublespots in the Sirius Sector.

I will currently accept a Non-Aggression pact with the following parties but cannot accept anything more throughout the course of this war without the complete backing of Bretonia. The following factions Liberty will accept from are: Rhineland, Kusari, Samura, Blood Dragons, Outcasts.

Liberty Turn 3 (game turn something like 15 maybe I don't know) will follow.
