Hay!!! if you are having a problem with money try the save game with over a 1,000,000 credit limit http://freelancer.portalive.com/index.php
It took some really careful trading but I manged to get the Dagger as well.I traded in the Defender + 8,000 credits. It was well worth it although the ship does have its shortcomings in the shield department but it more than makes up for that in the amount of firepower it can carry & manueverability,Think Firepower of a defender w/ the manueverablility of the Patriot. Now I understand why so many want to be allied with the outcasts, they make some very nice ships. The sound affects are different as well, more futuristic imo.
It took me about an hour to get but it was well worth it.

Any chance of modding the prices so we can buy the ships and equipment for almost nothing in the demo version just to try them out? PLEEEEEZ
I can't get the hang of this method of flying and keep getting blown away on the first mission cos my starting weapons aren't worth jack. I may as well be using a pea shooter. Maybe if I could spend some time flying instead of being launched into the first mision straight away, it would allow me to get the hang of it.
On the other hand, a set of decent guns and shields to stop me getting torn apart straight away may enable me to log some flying time when the mission is over to get used to the controls. I'd like to log some flying time in the other shps to see how they handle as well.

My idea of an OS is one that operates the system, not a self contained package of every piece of software ever invented.

Actually, for those of us who still have the demo... you can enable many of the pilotable ships (that the demo has physical models for) by changing the market_ships.ini and the shiparch.ini
Some of the ships you can enable are Britonia's freighter, the Borderworld Fighter and Elite Fighter, All of the liberty ships, the Civilian Startracker, The Corsair Fighter and Elite Fighter, Kusari Freighter, Order Anubis, Juni's ship (Liberty Elite 2 Fighter, With some further modification to the ship database to make it a sellable item), and the Rheinland Fighter and Elite Fighter.
I've come to love the Rheinland Elite Fighter and the Order's Anubis. I had to make changes to a few other files to allow for some of the heavier weapons for those shipse to be bought at level 1, as well as adjusting the price of the weapons since you dont really get the random missions that pay you a lot more. I'll try and get these files on some public webspace for those of us who still have the demo and post a link
One thing to consider tho' if you have the demo... if you make the ships available at any given bases in the Li01_xx, make sure you dont put more than one ship available at Buffalo Base, Rochester Base, and the Battleship (Li01_12, Li01_13, and Li01_15) as this -can- cause the game to randomly crash.
Oh and if anyone has a lil' web space, I can send you the files easy enough too, along with the bini.exe (if you dont have it already

From the command line, just type 'bini (then the name of the ini file)'
You can also tell windows to open the file with a selected program by right-clicking, open with, browse to bini.exe... viola...
it will then create a text file that you can use notepad with. Just be sure to re-name the old ini to something else like --- inifile.bak or something before running the game.
I'll get you the link...
