I played the last 2,5 hours nonstop.
Thought it was just one hour so thats a good sign.
Graphics are great, everything maxed out.
Flying a Rhino now, just doing whatever I like.
I raided another Rhino and made some good money, but Im close to getting to lvl 2 now and than I will start over again.
Im planning on disabling a trade lane next.

Love it. I'm pre-ordering the game today for sure.

Love the mouse control, not a game I want to use a joystick with I think. Only drawback I've seen so far with it is I tend to simply just follow an enemy around and not do too many maneuvers. That's minor point for me though. Need to learn the keyboard commands.

Planet dialoge is very repetative. Hopefully it's better in the full game.

Graphics are quite nice and the atmosphere is brilliant. This star system is alive; the ambient radio convo is a great touch and the randomness is great. On my way back from Pittsburg to Manhatten, I had some issue with the atmosphere so I restarted. This time around I was ambused by five Rogues on the way there. Very cool. I think the cooperative multiplayer aspect will be something I'll try in the long run. Usually I'm not into multiplayer, but for this I might make an excemption.

Only major problem is that my system has hardware issues and has frozen twice while in the game (not the game's fault); I see this being an annoying problem until I build myself a new PC.

I was in the tradelane to Wespoint when I saw an object off my starboard side in the middle of nowhere, when I investigated it is when I found that minefield south of Pittsburg. It's too bad about the level cap, cought be by surprise!

I agree with that combat is very frequent, however I've noticed that you can just put on your cruise engines and blow by them. I don't konw how this will work out later on, with increase frequencty of a cruise disrupter.? It's fun as hell exploring, but the only thing that disturbs me is the cargo capacity of the Rhino. I hope this is a demo thing, but it only hold 80 units, while everything else holds 20-30? That seems a little "weaK" in my opinion, it would be a sad day when we start to see truckers hauling cargo in a Honda because it's almost as good as a big-rig.

-Spoiler-
====================
What I found in the minefield was a jump gate, but I keept blowing up evertime I came near it. It let's me target it though but it doesn't give any info as to its destination.

@Maniac
I hear u were in the Badlands... There's a small surprise watin for ya if ur explorin it..
Just one thing: it's kinda dangerous (made me die quite quickly )..
And ya, I've got to try out that minefield south of Pittsburgh as well, seems to be interesting as well

What really amazed me was the fact that I'm playing the game with 1024*768 32 Bit and Details maxed on my crappy machine: PIII 900 GeForceDDR 256MBRam! Thought I had to at least level down the resolution, but thats great
Someone else mentioned this and it caught my eye as well: some textures REALLY look washed out, check out the bases' docking doors when u launch.. weird, probably a Demo issue tho :/
What I don't like too much is the fact that I've only encountered 3 random missions so far. Are there more in the retail version, or do they differ between the systems? It's like killing a criminal, capture a criminal or clean an area from rogues/pirates.. Of course there are some more if I tried out being a criminal myself but so far these were the only missions I encountered..
Another thing has been mentioned before. All I'm saying is: "We don't really own this place but we have an understanding with the people who do!" *rollseyes* Ya, this kinda gets repetative after a while, but hey, the ppl's animations are so cool to look at I don't mind talking to them.

The game is great. I've played the whole afternoon now and still I haven't visited every base (remember: this is only ONE system of MANY in the retail game). I own a Patriot light fighter now and it's not bad Definitely better than the one you start with.. One question: Why's that I have a bad rep with the Rheinland Republic Trade faction? Just becoz some "Order" blew up their general while I was watching?
Damnit, this game's so cool I've got to continue playing now.

Just one more thing: Juni really is some hot chick eh?

Thanks go to Mad Dog for hosting this pic!

hope someone cracks the lvl2 limit just like what was done to the gta2 demo's timelimit then i'd be happier than i am now.

Holy mother, I just finished the first two missions, and I think this game is friggin' fantastic! Oh good lord!

Repetitive dialogue? Too much fighting? BAH! Bah, I say! This is all light years better than any other Privateer clone!

AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hehe, titbits.

is there a way to run the demo without having to dl'd the ez-pad? or do you have to do that? just curious?

Post Sat Feb 22, 2003 8:15 pm

Guess you will have to wait till Monday and dl it somewhere else.

Concerning the minefield:

**MAYBE SLIGHT SPOILER**
.
.
.

You can see a jumpgate sitting in the middle of it. You can't target it but when you hover the mousepointer over it, it says "unknown jumpgate"

.
.
.

**SLIGHT SPOILER END**

LOL guys... And if the textures are washed out, then lower the res... the game makes adjustments automatically for some reason...

Post Sat Feb 22, 2003 8:39 pm

I wonder if it's possible to deactivate the kickout of the game when you reach the 2nd lvl ? I don't think so but it would be great.

Post Sat Feb 22, 2003 8:42 pm

Of course it would be great....but the "kickout" is meant to be there so you would actually buy the game and so you wont run into problems since the demo doesnt include all the necesary files for you to move on in the missions.

I will buy the game anyway. I don't want to play any of the "story-line" missions, I just want it to be possible to gain lvl 3 and explore the sector New York (a little) longer.

3 words: I love it! great game but things I don't like is

* to many random battles (yeah I know but space is huge and it isn't like there is someone every 30 second you fly (space isn't overcrowded))
* graphics aren't that good (bit low on poly's) but not that important
* to bad every planet has 1 bar 1 dealer 1 etc etc some diversion would be nice

I will stop playing the demo because when I then have the full version I will have to play everything again and it would become boring :S (or is this not the first mission from the full version?)

While the graphics arent ground breaking, I will say that the particle effects are astounding, very pretty.
