Post your DEMO experiences here.

First off: WOW DA, this demo is amazing! The universe has so much flavor and variety, I just can't stop playing, you've made my day!

Anyways, this demo has some amazing experiences that I thought alot of us would love to share. What's amazing is how DYNAMIC the universe is, It's not static or dead, It's bristling full of life with Freighters that actually have destinations and a Star Patrol that actually... Patrols!

After the story missions, I decided to do some sight seeing on my own, so I quickly departed from New Pitsburgh, and set a course toward The Military Training Facility. Upon departing from my first set of trade lanes, I come upon a world unto it self, there are a few stations set, and traffic that has a purpose, but I also noticed a wing of Rogues as well. Seeing the opportunity to help out the police I quickly set course to engage those scoundrels.

The fire fight was intense, and I foolishly did not take the time to upgrade my ship before departing New Pitsburg. In the end though, we became the victor, although my hull was a flaming wreck and I had lost a wing. Let me tell you, there's nothing like limping home and being EXTRA careful about what paths you take - in order to avoid any pirates. The tension is astounding.

Again - awesome game DA. This is gonna be a classic.

The demo is great! I find myself using both modes of flight depending on what I'm doing.

The only concern I have is with the dialog. It's cool how it will remember if it's your first visit, well at least first time talking to a person. But the dialog can get very dry very fast.

I also find the word "rumor" is way over used. I hope this is just because of the demo because every person seems to have one and that's not the problem just that they all phase it the same way.

Couldn't someone say "Hey I got some info for ya". Same goes for everyone announcing if there group runs the station your on or not.

Oh well I never tried it but I’m assuming Esc just goes right to the text? The game kicked me out because I reached level 2! I was going to buy that defender heavy fighter on the battleship Missouri.

Ah ha! So THAT'S where it is.

Stormtrooper Tactics 101: Okay class, repeat after me. "There he is! Blast em!" Very good.

Hm... i've been playing it for about 2 hours now and i must say this: way too much fighting! I mean, i can't fly 30 seconds without a pack of rogues showing up and engaging me (even in the vicinity of bases). And Liberty is supposed to be the calmest part of the Sirius sector? Geez... i want a trading/exploration game with some combat and not a space arcade shooter with some trading/exploration to spice it up. Sure my rep with the rogues ain't the best, but even then one might think that they are not that many in a police controlled part of space.

Other than that i love it so far, but this fighting thing is some sort of letdown.

Doh

I hope its not like that for the retail game.

Too many random battles, especially in Liberty system, might get upsetting >

Just finished the demo, it's nuts

Do I hear complaints about the amount of fighting? I say bring it on! Made life a lot easier when I picked up my Patriot light fighter, threw in a couple of Drail's and a couple of lavablades mk 2 and it would deal with anything in New York system.

A bit dissapointed about the 2 level cap but eh, what ya gunna do (I know, probably start again )

Didn't bother with trading (as much fun as hauling cargo from place to place is... I'd rather get my cargo from the wreckage of my foes).

All in all a fantastic game, and definately increased my anticipation of the release... thinking I might need to pop down to my friendly local computer store and place an order (March 24 hurry up and come!)

Edit: Oh and mouse control was brilliant. I can't even see how the game could be played with a joystick with the way it is designed.

Demo is 150MB

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

Well...Fileplanet must have only had the free download for a short time last night. It still wants me to create a account and I am not going to pay to play a demo. Guess I will have to wait until Monday for the demo...or wait until March 4th for the full game..not that long to go now.

I got an account and i didnt have 2 pay

Post Sat Feb 22, 2003 2:31 pm

Yeah..you can get a free account....I do not want a stinking account with File*************. I am not sending my personal info over the net to a unsecure server. I will just wait until Monday.

edited for obvious content that was a bit overboard.

thats cool but u cud use my user if ya like?

Thanks for the offer bountyhunter..but I think File*********** has a certain cd key code for each download of the demo..and you allready used it. It is stupid to require a cd code for a stinking demo!

Yeah it SUXS i anit happy about quing for 2 hours for nothing.!!!!

I have played the demo for about 2 hours or so - damn its great

I have discovered a huge minefield in the "south" of Pittsburg - thought it was an asteroid field and set a waypoint in it I have to find out what is so valuable there to justify all the mines...

I have allready been in the Badlands - which look really cool but which are also a dangerous place to be...

There is a lot in it once you start to explore a bit....

However, there are indeed some things I do not like completely:

- Too many fights (At least in the areas, which have a political marking on them - but the others seem to be nothing but empty space)
- Planetary conversations (Get boring VERY fast - but if you skip them you get the rumor but not their personal information)
- Lack of Joystick support / flight modell / no radar (Yeah I know, it has been discussed before, but guess it takes some time to familiarize yourself with it. Right now I often get confused with free flight/mouse flight and sometime loose my orientation when my enemy gets out of my field of view)

But these are just minor problems to me - the "explorer feeling" easily outdo them all

That's my comment for now - I have to play some more now...
