Being able to name your ships
Small custom logos on the ships.

Ok, avoiding mentally handicapped troll, I would like for FL to have a lack of ambient lighting ( ) and a lot better random missions, as well as perhaps a new uncharted sector to explore!

Erm...isn't it a little bit premature to talk about Freelancer 2 ? Freelancer hasn't even been released yet ! Or am I once again the bad guy here ?

Sure, planning ahead is good, but I meant that it might be best to wait for how good Freelancer sells before the exchange of thoughts on a possible sequel.

Customisable ships, 1st person or avatars in stations etc, atmospheric flight, ship to ship docking for cargo transfer or coffee , capital ships that require multile players to pilot, online universe that dosnt have a pay-to-play fee, maybe webcam option for ship to ship comunications, clan owned stations or bases, tractor beams that can capture ships as well as cargo & aliens (thargoids?) !

Hows that sound?

I'll stick to what i think can be done, perhaps even for FL1 either by the community or by DA in a patch/add-on...

1) More mission types!!!! Can't stress that enough. Here's a couple of ideas
- Escort
- Cargo Delivery (requiring you to fly a freighter)
- Courier services... Get from point A to B at the least amount of time, without being blasted out of the sky. Requiring you fly something small and manuverable.
- Recon, go in fast and silent and come out with the goods on the system or pirate base or what have you.

2) Hiring wingman or wingmen
3) Hiring a freighter while you escort it (like FL2 had)
4) The ability to specify user made missions in MP. Think this was mentioned here a couple of times.

Some other things it would be nice to see but IMO are unlikely:

Forget about dynamic pricing for commodities...how bout a demand drivven economy? But i think that in itself would require a couple of years of coding.

User added systems. I know there are people out there with the know how and means to texture and create new systems.

A more modable enviorment. Mods add ALOT to the logetivity of games. Sometimes outlasting the original. Even small things like custom paint jobs and decals add alot.

Don't know if this has ever been mentioned...ATC? (Air Traffic Controler)
I think that near stations and the final dicking rings near planets someone has to be monitoring traffic. So an ATC channel would be kewl.

Hopefully Freelancer will do well enough to justify making Freelancer 2. I'm doing my part by buying one copy of the game.

Can anyone remember how Elite managed a variable commodity system based on tech level, government type ? All 256*8 planet names were also created using about 8k using some kind of seed mechnism if I recall correctly.

Obviously FL has a much more crafted universe than the generic one that Elite had, but the Dynamic prices meant you could make a dangerous run for a lot of profit, and occasionally lose out and have to sun scoop some fuel and try another system for your goods. I doubt it took 2 years to code, ask Mr Braben

After reading all the posts, I can't help thinking " What If "..

If most of what we wanted was incoperated into Freelance1 this would have been the best and biggest game of all time.. $$$$ too.

And just to make some happy, they could have put a big gulp holder in the pit! hehe.

Hehe... that would be cool. You could pass by the station with cruise speed and then you would hear something like this from the traffic controller:

"Goddamned! Your engine's graviton push spilled my coffee all over me! If you plan to land on this station in the future you better don't think about doing that again, pilot!"
