Ships

Are all the pilotable ships in freelancer a one man fighter type or are there ships similar in scale to say the Millenium Falcon where more than one person can fit into the cockpit, it just in all the screen shots it looks like there is only one person. Forgive me if this was mentioned before but i looked and couldn't find it

Well I believe that all pilotable ships are for one person.

There are some pretty big fighter ships you can buy, like the freighters, but they all are just one man ships.

They are all single pilot/crew ships. The largest are frieghters, but they still only have 1 person running the ship. So no dreams of cap ship commanding will come true - until someone makes a mod

I don't know if I'd like to play as a giant capital ship. The idea is good but after playing Independence War 2 with the Babylon 5 Cap-Ship mods.. I've found that it takes away from the feel of the game. I think what I would like better is to pilot a fighter or small ship, such as a corvette, and be able to call in other ships to help. Imagine being in a huge mess at one point in the game. Everything seems hopeless for you and your wingmen when suddenly you remember you earned enough points throughout the game to call in a battleship to tilt the odds in your favor. A few key strokes and suddenly a mass of iron comes out of nowhere and lays waste to your opposition. Now that would satisfy me!

if all the ships are pilotable only by one person how long is the biggest and are there any more human habitable parts of the ship except the cockpit (like a bunk or galley) not that these parts are shown, but do they have the potential to be there (in relation to size)

well for the bigger ships like there should be two or more, you pilot while your 1st m8 shoots your enemies...then if any police are around...you can call for help via NN or dialing 911 . you can use your NN to communicate right?

You can "Hail" an NPC and they will tell you their name and what they are doing.

From everything I've seen it doesn't look like you are able to get up and wander around your ship. You may just have to use your imagination for those times when Trent is sleeping or going potty. Since it looks like the ships won't even have cockpits I doubt they will have full interiors.

As for flying a capship, it doesn't sound like tons of fun. There was a way to fly a freighter or the destroyer in Priv2 but then you had to cruise around at 50. It was a little more fun to hack your savegame and put the destroyer's guns on on the Jincilla Skull, then you could go really fast and kill most guys with one or two hits.

Basically... there are three classes...

Light Fighter, Heavy Fighter, and Freighters...

The first two are your normal standard vehicles ... the third is heavy, large, strong... and uses multiple turrets for defense... as opposed to the others which have more forward firing weaponary and only one turret (mayeb 2)

Question for PR's:

1) Do freighters carry forward firing weapons as well as turrets?

2) Has the question of turrets being able to automatically defend your ship been answered... I'm thinking Tach said before that when firing normal weapons, the turrets in range/angle will track along. But can rear turrets automatically defend your ass when obviously you can't use forward facing weapons?

1. Yes, but not many.

2. No, turrets don't automatically shoot. It would be helpful, but they wouldn't hit anything with you maneuvering anyway.
