i cheat in sp, but the only cheat i use is god mode, as i like the challenge of building up cash for a better ship, and fighting eagles in a starlifter

( yeah it happened, i got to sigma 11 after getting lost for 3 days, had enough cash for bribing the outcasts, and lil else, then trundled to omicron alpha, only to be set upon by gmg eagles.)

in sp its modding in mp its cheating enough said

in mp- cheating is just plain wrong
in sp- a matter of preference...i judge a game as "good" when cheating does NOT detract from gameplay

cheating in sp is like pouring tomato sauce over yourself in the privacy of your own home,some will,some wont but who notices so who cares?

Ahhh... cheating. In MP, cheating is terrible, underhanded and just downright annoying. Now cheating while playing SP is different. In this game, no, I did not cheat at all. Didnt need to. But there are some games where the only way to beat a *BOSS* to get on with the game is to cheat. (i.e. - Return to Wolfenstein, try as I might, I had to cheat to beat the last dude)

In general, most game designers will make a game playable until a crucial moment and make the baddie unholy hard to beat. Why? Gives the gameplayers something to achieve. In FL, I think I died 9 times while playing. Most of those were towards the end... nope, not gunna spoil. FL was, and is, a great game SP. I have yet to play MP.

Just a final thought on this... if nobody cheats... why then are there all these cheat sites?

the only cheat that exists for freelancer is the god mode
please correct me if i am right...er wrong

making non flyable ships available or making weapons presentable at all bases would be a mod

WAIT? How do you get that gos mode thingy to work? I can't find the file to activate it or anything? This applies to that person who said the only SP REAL INGAME CHEAT is god mode.

i am the guy who talked about the only cheat mode in SP: the god mod

just put difficulty and damage at 0.0 and bingo you're safe
i believe it is in a ini file (check it your self out - it is the one which is not scrambled)

Where is the ini file you speak of? It says on GameWinners.com that it is called perfoptions.ini but I cannot find it anywhere in the File Directory. Help?

Yeah, your goin' to hell for sure.

not in the normal subdirectory..for me it was c:\documents and settings\ look up further there or something like that. Microsoft and other games save games there and not in the normal installdirectory

I think Cheating is GOOD so long as it is used properly.
I.e. Giving yourself an Uber Sheild so that you can get to Gamma and try out the Titan at the start without being Destroyed instantly, or using thr uber sheild and speed mods to explore without being nailed by damned asteroids, or trying to get to alaska through a minefeild that kills a battleship in about 4 seconds.

Cheating is BAD if you give yourself a cloak so that you can nail everyone without even being seen!

GOD MODE

To get God mode go to your desktop, there youll see My documents
Go into it then My games, Freelancer
There is a file there called Perfoptions.ini
Open this and sccrool down til you find,
DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 1.00
Change it to
DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.50 <-- Easy game
DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.00 <-- Makes you invincable
DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 2.00 <-- Makes it hard (havent tried yet)
This only works on single player

personally i think modders cant play the game ...there not able to keep up with real gamers who work at it and put the time in to make themselves better ranked ....
and another thing that annoys me is the global kills board...they should have one board for people who can play the game for real and are proper freelancers .,..
and one for modding scum who kill with mods...
thats my view i dont mean to offend peeps when i say modding scum its just a phrase we use on the server i use...

i dont hold anything against anyone who wants to mod but the final word is they cant play the game with real players on an unmodded server...
