Freelancer vs. Reality:

This is a free discussion forum on Freelancer. This is the place to discuss Freelancer issues NOT covered by the other boards!

You want reality? This isn't reality, this is a computer game. The very epitomy of fantasy. While I agree that alot of the anachronisms sound silly, the scanning your hold for contraband seems totally real. This is supposed to be taking place in like 3100. 23rd Century plus 800 years plus who know how long in transit to Sirius. Who even remembers the American Constitution? Although I do admit it seems strange that they will put you in prison for possesing Cardemine on the surface of a planet, but if you are transporting it, you just drop it and "Thanks for the cooperation sir. Move along." But then I always have been strange

Nobody said that the game should be exactly like reality. It was just a comparison of the relative differences.

Sorry boys, but reality will always win against FL. It doesn't crash every eight minutes.

Your copy of Freelancer crashes a lot?? I was recently marvelling at how stable a program it is.... haven't had a single problem with it since I got it.

That was quite a refreshing change of pace from Battlecruiser Millennium - which crashes about every eight minutes, if you're lucky.

This is probably more suited for the tech support forum, but I have gotten nothing but crap trying to make this game run properly. Just wondering, but is your PC ready-made or did you build it?

I wondered about the comments from folks who said FL kept crashing, since the game was running perfectly on my PC. Then one day it started freezing up on me every 15 minutes or so! The game would crash in the midst of major battles, usually when I had them almost won. But after a few days it went back to normal again. Good old Microsoft ...

That sounds a lot like my prob. Every time I try to go into a jump gate the game crashes, and I just reinstalled the game and that Freihoffer Codec thing...

My PC is apparently an HP that the company has disavowed any knowledge of... they removed all of the logos and put it on auction, I don't know why. It's a P4 2.0 GHz processor with 256 Mb of DDR RAM, a 60Gb hard drive, and I've added a GeForce 64 Mb video card, too. Are your sytem specs up to snuff, as far as the game's concerned, Order?

No, this is not a "best ship" thread. Hold your fire.

I have an AMD Athlon 1.4 ghz. GeForce3 64MB... Yeah the specs are right. Although I just found out one of the cooling fans on my motherboard had gone out and I think that might be part of the problem. Ever since I took it out FL seems to be running a little better.

About 511 MB, I also have a Creative Ensoniq Audio PCI card and have been having some sound problems, are there any known problems with that card?

Try swearing at it. That sometimes helps for me.

Already tried that many, many times. Got some strange looks from my parents but not much else.
