After finishing the SP, I'd mucked around with an Eagle for a while, but then went back to my trusty Drake and started exploring, figuring it was maneuverable enoug to have survivability.

Well, I jumped to Omicron Alpha in it. Reception committee was 4 Sabres. It was very touch-and-go, but I took down 2, and almost had the 3rd destroyed, and was starting to congratulate myself and thinking how easy the 4th would be to take out with no one else shooting at me, when another flight of 4 showed up. I managed to destroy the 3rd one, tractor in some shield bats from him, and bug back out via the jumphole.

I looked like this when I landed on the Luxury Liner Hawaii for repairs.

for me, 10 sabres and 15 stilettos had to attack me in an edge system. but i never had a shield fail (8000 points) kept doging and shooting and boosting

I pulled off a level 40 assassination mission in a Hammerhead with only a level 7 shield, barely managed to limp back to Falkland with all 49 bats and just about all bots gone and a whole bunch of outcasts trying to vapourise my butt while I docked.

Another unhappy incident is when I tried visiting a hostile Mactan base in a stock starflier. Somehow managed to dodge all those hackers, went through the jumphole to Cortez only to land square in the middle of another bunch of hostiles, dodge them for 40K before I managed to land on that Spa & Cruise planet.

Well, this happened today. I (lvl 26) was just flying with my brand-new Falcon in the Omega 11 system. I had bought the position of the Omega 41 system and , of course, I fly throught it. In the Omega 41 system there was a battle, Bounty Hunters vs Corsairs vs Hessians, so there was about 25 ships fighting. I was was good frnied with BH so I attacked to some corsair ship. I was just about launching two skykiller torpedos when I accidently pushed the left mouse button. Mouse-pointer was just over BH ship (it was Piranha i think) so my torpedos destroyed that poor ship. Funny thing was that BH become TOTALLY HOSTILE towards me (They were totally frindly before that). So there was I agains 25( ) hostile ships. I fought and fought and handily won that match.

Good thing about that fight was that I got about 500k credits from it

My worst experience was that mission when you're in Kusari and you've got to destroy the weird arch base with the crazy fat possessed man. I did it with a hawk, very few nano and shield gens, and low ammo on missiles.

I managed to limp back to the dragon's base with both my wings blown off and missing two weapons B-) . This was my first time round playing the SP campaign, and after that I always made sure I had a heavy fighter or better.

I've probably had worse on MP, but if I did then it's probably lost in my jumble of repressed, traumatic memories.

When I accidentally made it to Tau-37 in Defender (don't know how ), the martyrium was to get back to any civilized system, since I was lvl 10 (about Mission 8 in SP and "officialy" not knowing about Border Worlds or Kusari systems yet).
Few times I even did not manage to hit afterburner after the launch from the station and was disintegrated by around fighting BH or Outcasts. After I made it back (again don't know how, I only remmember to extensively hailing all friendly outbound ships, trying to hook on some to get at least decent cover) to Kusari I bought Drake and since then everything got a new perspective. After Drake I moved to Hawk and finished the game with it.
I still keep few shots of my Defender or what remains of it. In one desperate attempt I lost everything (missile, CM, both wings w/guns) except two hull-mounted guns and the overall impression of such docking torso was indeed desperate .

If you can count surviving as 'won', here's a doozy.

I had just finished my last Diamond Run and thought I'd go get this 'Eagle'
I kept reading about. I knew it was sold over in Omicron Theta at a Freeport,
and I was cool with the Zoners so I just set out that direction in my Humpy.
I had gone in completely cold, didn't know where anything was.

So I pop into Sigma-17 and see some Corsairs. Nothing to it I think, I plastered
lots of Corsairs with Turret Mode in my well outfitted Humpy. Thing was, these were
Titans now. You can guess what happened. In retrospect, it *was* kinda funny,
me running with a horde of Titans on my @$$. Just barely made planetfall on Kurile.
Turrets shot off, bots & bats & CMs depleted, I heard hull breach warning in ring.

Humpback wasted, I bought a Falcon and RAN to Freeport9. Ship dealer on
Freeport 9 musta thought I was nuts, trading in a brand-new Falcon
with only one trip. Had no problems with Titans on the way out, BTW.

the mission in the ice cloud where you are on your way to destroy that big base in the asteroud and you encounter 3 or 4 battleships and fighters i killed them all and i was in my barrecuda ship.

I finally made it to leon base... Due to a horrendous miscalculation, I hit my torpedo button instead of the boost button, and I fired a torpedo right into leon base.

The corsairs didn't much appreciate the gesture, and tore into me. I Didn't even TRY to kill one. I just ran like no tomorrow. I barely made it to freeport, with 2 nanobots and 3 shield batteries to spare.

I decided I wanted to go into the nomad worlds. The outcast hated me and on going through the jump hole I was greated by about 8 outcast ace's and two weapons platforms. After fighting my way through I then fought a load of nomads before heading back to the corsir homeworld. I also did a mission when I faced 8 gmg eagle's then about 6 more came. Then I had to fight 8 more but with help.

Got me an attack every damn jump gate almost when i got that call from juni on the early levels. Now that wouldn't be an issue if i hadn't gone as far out as possible and had to traverce over 210K light years. That to all you reading isn't really an issue but keep one thing in mind.....i have NOT been able to correct that speed issue some of us FL guys have (seen faq's on guys with bitchen systems having this problem) and my ship probably travels 50% of the speed in game and in movie/talk sessions my voice is done waaaaaaaaay before the cinematic and i can't esc it away (sob, sob). In any case i may be moving to a new mo bo soon so i hope this corrects the issue with that and some ddr (am still with SD ram). But the point to this was that i CANNOT escape an attack once i begin the enguagement and if i jump to cruise they CAN catch me w/o using their cruise or a disruptor. i have to use my jets and keep out of their fire untill i get near ANY friendly's and they break off at 10K from any station.

In any case if you think you can help me out on the crap speed issue i would apprechiate hearing from you at [email protected]. Aswell as where i can make enough to get me a GOOD ship instead of my light fighters or freighters (like the freighters though).

I was in the FP 9 System (Is it Sigma 19???) well, I just met the Corsairs, so my rep was just above neutral to hostile. Man, that voyage to FP 9 was horrible. I thought the Hawaii mission was bad, but like in th FP 9 system, I was jumped by like 12 Corsair Centorions. I hit cruise mode but they kept disrupting it. I barely made it to FP 9. Man the Corsairs hate me.

I had a battle with an extreme pucker factor in Kusari space of all places. I was in a Rhino, trying to get more friendly with GC and Blood Dragons, so I picked on Hogosha. Well, I hadn't met the FA yet, and they showed up while I was fighting Hogosha, and I ended up hostile to them. Flash forward - I jump out of Choguku to Honshu carrying cardamine after ending up with BD going hostile after a drop request, and ending up in a running fight with 16 or them, and get the drop request from some GC. By the time all is said and done, I have 8 GC, 12 Hogosha, and like 20 FA chasing me.

Every time I try to engage, there is just too much fire especially from the better FA ships, so it is a lot of running, burning thrusters and dropping mines and CM while jinking. When all was done, I had 60 fighter kills in a hour long fight, no bats or bots, no wings, no CM or mines. I head for Honshu thinking having some cops around would be a good idea, not to mention getting repairs, and get scanned. They start firing while I am docking, and things don't look good, so I break out and run again, wishing I had just dropped the darn cardamine. I make it to the shipyard on the way to New Tokyo.

Once there, FA and Hogosha are attacking, so I run for the New Tokyo jump gate, where once again I am scanned. Ok, I am feeling pretty cheeky, and the convoy ahead of me is just about through the gate, so I let the message expire, and jump.

More Hogosha at the next shipyard, run to New Tokyo itself and doc at Roppongi. What an appropriate time it would have been to go to the bar and hear "Rough day out there, huh?"
