My most thrilling run was getting back to neutral space after mission 9 to get some more money. In trying to avoid the Kusari police and navy patrols I took a jumpgate that brought me straight to the Outlaw's system and damn close to their base (I didn't quite realise that).
After fighting off wave of wave of Stilettos and those mini-star destroyer ships they have (Barracudas?) I started getting low on shields and bots. Plus each wave followed the previous so quickly that I didn't have time to get away either (damn cruiser disruptors). So eventually I decided to just run for it until I was at least a decent distance from the base, kill the last wave and get to cruise speed.
Next jump point of course there's another bunch of them eating away my precious last shield batteries. I jump and watch in horror as the bunch guarding the other side blows off my pretty Dragon's wings before I even get control. Then one more bad message informs me my booster has left the ship
. No nanos, ICM or batteries left at this stage so going to cruise is out of the question.
I manage to destroy them all but my ship looks like a VW Beetle after an bad accident and I cruise with two little blocks of hull left to Freeport 6, narrowly avoiding a Samura patrol by flying as close as possible to the sun.
I finally reach Freeport 6 and started the docking sequence as a Kusari patrol drops out of the trade lane and starts firing, knocking away my shield and bringing my hull down to one block. I quickly escape out of the docking sequence, fly to the other side of the station and finally managed to dock before they could find me. Pricy repairs, but what a rush to just make it by the skin of your teeth
