level 27 mission in a banshee was probably my toughest. Two waves of 8 sabres. No help. I don't know how I didn't die. I didn't even get my hull damaged. Normally 26+ is a little bit more than the banshee can handle.

I once killed five polar bears with my bare hands!

10 hammerheads in a hawk, outside fp9 I think. Never underestimate xenos weapons!

Afterburners and manuevering are the key to overcoming odds...

The best odds I've overcome is coming through a jumpgate and getting jumped by literally 20 or so Liberty Police, Bounty Hunters, and Samura...

I forget exactly what I had, but I remember it was a light fighter with some moderate-strength weapons.

Now, I have a Wolfhound w/ 2 Tarantulas and 3 Usiels... Now I can overcome nearly anything!

I was in my sabre and thought id do a little run into the unknown system in omicron alpha and while i was there 4 nomads showed up. It was no real problem to defend myself against them but when there where only 2 left 4 MORE appeared. Damn thoose canons and blasters stings :p. I fended them off with no bats left but my shield was still up. They managed to inflict some harm to me but i was'nt in an situation i could'nt control. Ended up in malta with 2 N canons and 1 blaster sp it was worth it .

I've done quite a few Corsair's missions against the bounty hunters to earn me some gold and i must say they are a bit of a challange when your all alone.

And i also started a war on society just outside new tokyo so i ended up fighting more or less everything that popped up . Im working on my rep with most factions right now (God they hatre me ). I dont think i have ever sold so many guns after that battle. I must have killed over 800 ships (And freighters + transports) in that battle alone .

The greatest battle is I lure some of the nomad fighters from the jumphole they appeared to the outcasts sabers and I'm HOSTILE to both of them.

Have 4 Sabers & 6 nomads (all lvl 18 or above) all shooting at u, even my Eagle with all lvl 9 & 10 weapons and the lvl 10 shields can't stand very long, I just escape. Then I come back with friends(MP), and slaughter them like chicken.

And another is when I fight with Hessians in Omega-?(I forgot, but with large minefield), minefield + 8 lvl 15 Hawks isn't very fun. Luckily, I was able to escape the minefield and then....... All died within 90 seconds.

If u want some challanging battle, don't fight, lure to a place where it has more enemy.

biggest odds? i guess it was me being curious about mining at the start that i had the junk ship and went after the nearest mining field at the start, and like getting 2 scrap metal units later, a wing of something... like 5 fighters jump in, (i was at lvl 1) and start shooting me, and at this time, i still had no idea as to how to use the controls properly, so i just started shooting blind, i resorted to starlancer controls and put the mouse pointer in the centre and just went with the keyboard, and shot away... some 2 kills later, i found it irratating, and engaged cruise, and they shot it down, so i got nervous, and went back to my *superior* starlancer dog fighting skills, and weaved in and out of the mining field, and one by one, they came down, only to have the last one jump out and come back with backup... considering the ship kept righting itself *dunno why* it took me a while... some 15 mins i think, until i had the chance to jump out.. it was horrible.. and the guns i got were even more horrible, just losses... and i didn't know how to buy nanobots and shield batteries at that time.. so i had nothing left by the time i was done, and was practically left with only my cockpit...

presently, my world is upside down, so if u do not mind, u'll have to tok to my a$$

Well after I finished the single player I bought a patriot with 4 scorpion guns I think. Fought off like 2 waves of 3/4 centurians around reinland space.

Post Sat Mar 22, 2003 12:13 am

Oh yeah forgot to mention I beat the SP in a drake. Didn't even have to use nano bots the last mission. 2 Ripper (class 6) and 2 Rippers (class 5). I haven't flown all the ships in FL but the drake is the best in my opinion its tiny so the AI has problems targeting it. Plus IMHO its the best looking ship.

Well....my wildest experience was in single player in like...mission 7 I think.

Blasting out of Leeds through Rhineland blockades in my Cavalier. They said take a heavy ship but I was all "whatever" and took my light fighter. I about crapped my pants when that first cruiser opened fire on me and this wave of fighters swarmed me. It was only luck that I had packed a launcher full of Catapult missiles. Plus that fat fart Tobias showed up in the mission. Ugh. Freaking insane. I hate Rhinelanders.

Haven't had nearly as much trouble in MP though. Although running in my drone was 11 corsairs was interesting to say the least one time cuz my escort decided to go off on his own to "check something out".

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a larger target selection.

Post Sat Mar 22, 2003 1:44 pm

After taking off from a Cardamine run to Manhatten 4 Bounty hunters show up, followed by 4 more, followed etc..etc..etc..

My little Dagger was dancing round the screen pooping off at anything that moved. The target list was off the scale. Think I racked up 17 kills before I got chance to hit cruise.

Had to change my pants when I got back to Buffalo Base.

I was flying a Bretonia HF. I jumped into a radiation field, chipping away at my hull integrity. Granted, I was LOADED and armed to the teeth, but it was only with level 6 weapons as I had not yet finished the SP story. I jumped in on twelve, count'em TWELVE (that's a 1 followed immediately by a 2), SABRES! I have NO idea how I made it out of there alive, but when I did I had less than 1/4 hull integrity, shields depleted, NO shield batteries, NO nanobots, I was completely out of missiles, mines, and countermeasures. I'd lost two of my hardpoints, both my highest level guns. And to make matters worse, my thusters were gone with two more patroling Sabres closing in fast to investigate the commotion. By sheer luck I made it to the functioning trade lane rings over 20 klicks away before they got to me. By the time I got out of the radiation, I was down to a single bar of hull integrity.

I don't know how I made it out alive.

Greatest odds, now let's see...oh yea, has to be the time when I went to Omicron Gamma while I was totally hostile with the Corsairs. You know when you go to Gamma and are hostile with them Corsairs they never stop coming! It was wave, after wave, after wave. Heck, most of the time they didn't even wait for me to finish the current wave before sending the next! Each wave had like 4-6 Titans and it was then that I realized just how useful the greater maneuverability of the Eagle can be over the other VHFs. I was dodging in and out of fire, cutting engines, reversing thrust, just pulling every trick in the book. I spent like 20 minutes just blasting the hell out of countless Titans before I said "f*ck it" and left. I managed to get to Theta with half shields and 40 or so shield batteries (thanking the Corsairs for their generosity). I just laughed when the Corsairs tried to jump me at the other end of the jumphole where I got sweet revenge against them for killing one of my group members...

Then about half an hour after that I got a bribe and then everything between me and the Corsairs was just peachy

well, I decided I wanted alot of money, and a VERY heavy fighter, looking at my rep, the Eagle was the only one available to me. (I knew where it was from SP)

I had 30,000 credits, need cash. good missions in New Tokyo, up to 35,000

Had a 45 minute dogfight against four waves of Blood Dragons, then decided, eh, GOTO be better missions somewhere, I know, I'll just take missions from freeport 9 in omicron theta, that way once I have the cash I can buy my ship!

heh...I'm in a Barricuda, lvl 4 weapons.
I made it to freeport nine, I lost two wings, but made it.

while there I took ALOT of missions fighting Corsairs, in their Titans, with their lvl 10 sheilds, and lvl 8-9 weapons...

I survived. Worst one was a mission for 80,000. I survived. The backup NEVER arrived. it was me against four waves of 8 corsairs each wave. I lost only one wing to!

Very interesting stories.
Worst odds for me was the mission when you fly with the blood dragons and attack that one Kusari installation...i was in that ugly little Bretonian Light Fighter...Cavalier, i think. ended up playing the mission two or three times before finally beating it. After that mission, i finally discarded that ugly light fighter and bought a heavy fighter of some sort.

Another tought situation was the mission where you fight the Rheinland fleet. Jeez there we a LOT of cruisers/battleships. I managed to take down a few of the gunships and 10 or so fighters. I was in the same light fighter then.
