When I set the osiris as a base somewhere with FL explorer it's invisible, any idea what might be causing it? Btw you can fly into it, it's there, just invisible, unselectable etc.

Kabbie, it's because the osiris loadout has a cloaking device. this makes it invisible as a base. what you would have to do to fix this is to remove the cloaking device from the Osiris loadout

Hi, whenever I open up FLExplorer it says cannot find 'C:Temp'. Can anyone plz help? many thanks

Why are you looking at my arse? Ah, I see, afraid to look me in the eye. Very wise choice. And your last............

Post Fri Mar 19, 2004 12:08 pm

Couple of things...

I, like everyone else, am getting the c:\temp error, but it doesn't impede me from using the program (winxp p4 1.6 ghz 512ram gforce3 64m gfx 40gig hd). It saves and loads properly, but alas, no DLL. But you already knew that. So, my question is, if I can somehow make it find c:\temp, will it work for .dll saving?

Alright, next thing, I was able yesterday to delete all systems (And by consequence, delete individual systems). Today, no such luck. The program goes to error report mode, then closes. I heard that deleting systems wasn't implemeted, but if thats true, why was I able to do it before? I haven't installed anything new since then. The only explanation I have come up with (apart from something like 'god hates me' ) is that the program wasn't really deleting the systems, just making it look like they were gone. I wish I had saved a mod with no systems, but I didn't think it would stop working, so I didn't have that kind of foresight.

Out of curiousity, is this program still in dev or is it halted? There's been no posts here for a while.

Thanks a bunch.

Development is halted until I hear from our programmer again which may be some time.

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea on the deleting thing?

It's not a big deal, since if I really feel the need to obliterate systems I can do it through the ini files, but it would be fun to do it through flex, if it's possible.

ok... excuse me if i missed this problem somewhere earlier but...
i cant apply any changes made to anything. it always gives me errors like "No such file: C:\\TEMP" which i managed to fix, followed by "Error when trying to write: empty_dll" which simply has me baffled. also, i think a user should be able to target their freelancer directory if/when it cant find it on its own.

Looks like this project may be on death's doorstep. Too bad. I know Freelancer isn't the hottest new game in town, but it is still a cool game, and a lot of fun to play with when you can edit it. I think it still has a lot of life left in it, but only if those supporting it continue to do so. When the tool pushers go away, so does the editing community. If the current developer is asleep at the wheel, it is time to find a new developer. I've seen his name mentioned, but he's had the tool for months and has not released a new version of his own yet. Since he seems to be on vacation, maybe it is time to put the tool into capable hands - somebody who WANTS to deal with the project.

As to the last two posts, you guys have to do one simple thing to solve those problems. You have to ignore what the program installer wants to do and remove the FREXP files from its own folder. The program will NOT build a mod when run from inside of its own folder. You have to cut the files and paste them into the Freelancer EXE folder - yes, a bunch of loose files in your Freelancer EXE folder!

Two things to remember: 1) you will have no way of telling your Explorer files from your Freelancer game files; and 2) you cannot UNINSTALL FREXP once you do this because the installer/uninstaller will delete every file in the folder it is in, including the game files.

However, dropping the FREXP files into your EXE folder will eliminate the "Cannot find C:\Temp" error. Your files will save and if you have Mod Manager installed properly, it will work with Mod Manager and you will have a working MOD that can be used in the Mod Manager.

FREXP will RUN properly from inside its own folder. That was my mistake the first time I installed it. I assumed that because it runs and I can edit a system, everything is fine. But I was unable to save my work the way it is intended to save. I always got that error that says there is a problem saving the files. Then when I reopened my mod, names of things were missing and most of my technical data was also missing. When I moved the FREXP files out of their own folder into the EXE folder, my mod saved as a mod, and the custom dll file was created for me. The names of objects are automatically stored in the dll file and when you run the mod, the names show up in the game.

I don't come in here very often. Posts are few and far between and there have been no updates of the tool since what's-his-name took over the project. But here is a suggestion: include a ZOOM feature for close work. Setting up Tradelanes works, but getting the ends where you want them is something that requires closer detail levels.

Hey Louva, any updates from Mephit on where he is and/or how long it will be before we see the update?

Post Tue Apr 06, 2004 1:57 pm

I have not heard from him in 3 months and I'm worried something has happened to him. It is an unfortunate situation and one I am unsure how to handle.
