Elite server back up and running the patch.. *annoyed*

Want help in running a persistent server? Want to setup a gaming session? Look no further!

Jesus Cheezwhiz, there is an edit button.

the only time I blew up from what I can recall is during formation and cruise engines. Could of happen another time, but obviously was not significant enough to have such a major irritating impact for me.

I did a little trading too, a handful of cortez-ny runs, a ny-leeds, and then a liberty-rheinland-kusari... well anyway never blew up. Then later on I did a whole bunch of jumping around in the omegas and omicrons... no blow ups.

So I think it's a lag packet loss issue. Doesn't the game communicate via UDP? There's not much accountability for packet integrity compared to TCP, so even if you do have a very fast connection, if some packets go missing, it's logical to assume the game needs to jump you ahead to catch up from the last 'good state' it recorded from you (the client computer). This might mean to properly fix this, there would have to be a client side patch to fix server-client communication, since obviously there's a problem in communication when all you do is minimize the game...

Well, just some thoughts about it.

oh yeah, maybe MS should open source the server code (lol yeah right!) and let people who want to properly fix it, without even asking to be paid, fix it

God forbid Microsoft lends DA a couple in-house testers. Who put elite up to running the patch anyways? DA?

FYI - a new patch, that fixes, among other things, the "random" exploding problem, should be available by this evening, and will be installed on Elite.

@Cheezwiz

Do you have a clue as to the difference between constructive criticism and just plain 'ol criticism??? I mean we appreciate your effort, but your enthusiasm is a bit misdirected. In other words, you're not helping us much at all with your feedback format.

Welcome to our forums Cheezwiz, if you look closely you will see a little EDIT button above each and every single post you make here. ESPECIALLY the 7 posts you made...in a row...on the previous page.

And I concur, if you feel the need to post on here EACH and EVER single time something happens to you on Elite, then spare us okay? You're not helping resolve the problems we're encountering with the new patch, you're only creating new ones with your posts here.

Take your frustration out somewhere else where people care...all we care about is people helping us fix the problems encountered. If that's not your bag of tea, then move on and let the people still trying to help....help.

...off the soapbox

Thats great new akataka, I lost a couple 45 unit sized cargoholds full of diamonds in that Honshu to New Tokyo gate, didnt lose enough cash for it to be tragic, but still, it would be much better fixed.

There was never a doubt in my mind that a new patch build would be available in the first day or two of this week. I see that has proven to be true, or should be. I am having a blast on this server, much more so than on any other I have tried. I have made all kinds of new friends. A real community instead of a bunch of people playing the same game at the same time.

The updated patch has just been installed on Elite.

The speed/random exploding issue should be resolved.

Keep the feedback coming...

Works like a charm. Had a blast. Made diamond runs with a paid escort; there were firefights and player pirates. Much fun was had by all. No blow ups. Didn't want to stop to come here and post.
