I did not cheat, I have Holliday as my witness, so don't ban me. this is a serious bug as non-cheaters may be called cheaters.

So when someone price gouges another player they get canned. Hmmm, that sounds like a pretty decent feature to me. That was a serious serious problem when Elite first came to life. People camping out in certain systems, hording all the good guns, extorting other player because they couldn't get through the "blockade" to get their own guns and if they did get through they got slammed for being elusive enough to get through. Sound familiar to anyone?

Man I think that should stay in-game BIG time! It sure would be nice to know the dollars amount involved in that little transaction and let the community decide if it was "fair" or not. Most of us know what they sell for so obviously it's based on a profit percentage of some kind. Interesting info...

Lets make something real clear; I sold Troy the gun at cost. Cost being what I paid for it at the Corsair base I bought it at. And I ate my mistakes. I lost money in the deal and I can’t begin to tell how much I don’t care. One more time for clarity, I didn’t price gouge anyone. I had a much better reputation with the Corsairs than Troy did. What I did is usually referred to as a favor for a friend.

Okay, so somewhere between 36,144k (what they sell for if you get from a ship corpse) and 120,480k (what you can buy them for from Tripoli) is the "trigger" for the server patch to believe there's been some sort of money "cheating" going on when players exchange wealth. Good info for everyone.

See, you're helping the community without even trying.

No, I am trying. I sold him the gun for 120k even if I remember correctly. If he did over pay me we both over looked it. I just don't want anyone to think I would do what you suggested. I have been helping him from the time he started. I haven't given him money, but I have helped any other way I could. I am one of the good guys and I don't want anyone confused on that point.

i paid 121k so i guess that caused it

Its funny though, I paid someone 50k each for nomad blasters and 60k for a cannon. Mainly because I had the money and I didn't want to go shoot nomads myself. And we had no such problems. Anyway I agree it is a good thing over all that players aren't allowed to gouge others. I just didn't want anyone to think I was doing it intentionally. He just rounded the number up.

I've been having more problems with geting booted for possibly cheating. I was mining copper in the colorado system and killing Xenos and i went to Pueblo Base to sell off my cargo. I sold a full load of copper and equiped an adv. scorpion i looted and tried to take off. I got booted. Several times. I came here to see if i could find anything that might help explain what the hell was going on and found Stingers post that mentioned the server patch looks for money cheating. I noticed that after selling off all my cargo and looted weapons I went from level 3 to level 5, so the next time i tried i sold off enough to hit 4 and took off. I didnt get booted. Now, looking for cheaters is fine, I dont have a problem with that, but getting booted for a legitimately high profit run just sucks. If this happens in my little starter craft, how bad will it get when I start using a freighter? I hope this gets figured out soon.

Ok, I'm starting to think theres a problem with the scorpion guns. I landed, sold 5 looted scorpion guns, took off, and got booted. This is starting to piss me off, i'm sick of getting booted. This is the only server I have this problem on, the damn thing wants to boot me damn near every time i take off. What the hell is going on here?

I have come to the conclusion that the server just dosent like me. I give up...for now anyway.

As soon as anyone is kicked from Elite for something that is not cheating (or they believe it is not cheating), please send me a mail with the following:

Approximate time it happened
What they were doing when it happened
Name of character using when it happened

This will help us track down what the server was thinking when it happened.

It would actually be great if a few of you could replicate the problems you have already encountered, and send off the details.

Thanks - [email protected]

*humbly approaches podium*

Ladies and Gentlemen, I come before you to offer an apology. I have recently discovered that the problems i've been having on Elite are NOT due to a server side fault. I used the "restore" function of the mod manager I've been using and I haven't been booted for "possibly cheating" since. So, I'm sorry if my stupidity has caused any undue trouble. I will attempt to avoid causing anyone to waste their time chasing wild geese again in the future.

Um, Hey fellow freelancers:

I'm feeling pretty stunned about this whole thing, but ahhh, is this the string the password for the elite server is posted in ... I've studied it pretty hard and i don't see anything ... If it's here i'll keep looking ... But if i'm on a snipe hunt, for god's sake stop laughing at me and tell me ... lol...
I keep hearing it's one of the better servers and i'd like to try it out ... Feel free to torment me via e-mail too ...

Get in, sit down, shut up, and hang on.

What a shame. The lag has gotten so bad in the last couple of days the game has become unplayable for me. It is to the point where it even locks up if I try to leave the server as the game attempts to break the connection. I am sure this is not a universal problem but I have spoken to more than a few people who are having lag issues. Time of day seems to have little impact.

A new patch build is available, and will be installed on Elite within a few hours.

In addition, I have some new hardware that I will try out, briefly, to see how it handles the load. Note, that this is not the complete "new" hardware, but a subset, and will hopefully improve the performance a little bit.

I will send a console message to everyone on-line just before I take the server down to apply the patch.

You're gonna like this enhancement. And it should only get better in time. We appreciate everyone's loyalty (and patience) to the Elite server thus far. If it weren't for you pilots out there, Elite would never get used as much as it does, and these wicked software enhancements about to be betowed upon the general public would never have come to the community this fast. A real nice arrangement we got here folks. Hats off to you all (you closet beta testers).
