whats the best ship

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

i will get the game within a month or so but would'nt mind getting some tips about it cos it's best to know what **** i'm getting myself into

well, those 2 catigories are mutually exclusinve, the best trading ships are not the best fighting, but for trading, get the Drome, for combat it depends on your preference, i like the Titan, but others dont.

Have fun with the game! But you will soon find that you can only buy certain ships depending on your level in the game. You'll start out in a light all purpose ship with weak armour and shields and capable of using only low level guns. (However, it is very maneuverable and can dodge a lot of enemy fire.) After a couple of missions you'll be able to upgrade to a stronger ship ship with more powerful shields and guns. Thus it goes throughout the single player game, with you only able to buy stronger and more powerful ships when you have advanced enough. This actually makes the game more fun. If you started out right away in a high level ship, the game would be too easy.

You can buy freighters for trading, but they handle like a cow in a muddy field. The fighters will steer much better, but can't carry as much cargo. You'll have to play the game to see which you like.

Once you get your hands on the game, you'll be amazed at the universe you have to explore. The single play game has only so many missions. But then you can explore forever -- or use mods or play MP on line.

Not really. I was expecting another of those "here we go again" Titan rules/Titan suck threads. But the guy hasn't even got the game yet. He doesn't have an axe to grind about any super extra special fantastic ship vs the cr*p the rest of us like. Just a newbie sticking his toes into the waters -- not realising the water is full of crocodiles.

All preference, really. I like to be able to defend my freight. I favor a Sabre.
If you want to trade for a living, a Dromedary is the best freighter. Fairly priced and most cargo space but mind you, you need to be at least neutra with the Lane Hackers to get one.

It really depends on your playing style, if you fancy a floating brick with enough guns to use all your energy in 10 secs (but are able to fire at any angle at any time) then try a Humpback. If you prefer fast firing lasers or photon blasters then stick them on a Dagger, fly like a lunatic, avoid getting hit and miss everything. Or simply grab every single slow weapon you can get, equip them on a Titan, be really accurate, kick ass or get blown to pieces. If you want some kind of midway between freighting and fighting then opt for a Drone or Dromedary.

Actually, you're best not listening to me as there really is no such thing as a "Best Ship". It's all really down to personal tastes, strategies and abilities.

"What's the best ship?"

Whichever one you survive the game in. If you die excessively or end up with an empty wallet, chances are you need to look for a different ride.

I can't believe two things...

That I clicked on this thread knowing what they usually contain - flame.

That mass civility has allowed a new guy to ask a straight forward question.

Maybe there is hope................ reasonable question answered reasonably.

I was about to click this one, but since it appears to be a legitimate question i'll let it go. However it degrades into an 'I love the Sabre/Titan' thread it'll get clicked.
