whats the best ship

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

You forgot the Igloo! Cool ship and you can get it in the Alaska system.

<<I hope it runs on a 500MHz>>
Well, I'm runnig it in SP on a 1.1GHz With a 64Mb PCI Geoforce 4 and the game STILL strains my system sometimes, but it is definitely worth it. Just remember, with computer hardware, the newer usually the better but before you can get your wallet out of your pocket, it's obsolete.

I'm running it on a 800Mhz Athlon and a 32M ATI card. I close all unnecessary programs and have no trouble.

Ha! I have 1.7 GHz!

Post Tue Nov 18, 2003 9:35 am

@BlazeME, me better... i run it on 2.4ghz

the best ship... well, some say the best is the titan, some say others... i don't know... i haven't flew all ships... i stay now mostly by low level fighters... it's nice to do all missions with that ship, even with the dagger i do the highest possible missions... but well...

like some1 said before, if u like fast firering weaps, take the dagger... my highest firerate on the dagger is 4.00... and i like also missiles on my dagger, co'z u need them for higher missions and have for the weaps what use energy more power...

i think it's the best for slow maneuvrable fighters to have high firerate weaps, co'z u can't wait for the next shot, co'z hecan be then out off ur sight and then u can't fire at him anymore... some said also that if u start with mp, then start on a non-pvp server... i started inmeadiate on a pvp-server, co'z u now what can happends then on the servers... and a non-pvp server, then u can better stay with sp, co'z u can't beat an other player in the game... i like sometimes to rush in and kill a player with my dagger...

why i don't fly high level fighters... it isn't fun anymore if u can beat all missions easy in that fighter, in the dagger i need to work to do a mission with pay better then 150k against hunters...

If u c some1 in a dagger make fireballs from hunters it can be me

BlazeME, eat the dust coming from my 2.8 GHz P4! Ha Ha!

@Tooplass - I ran Freelancer on the lowest graphical display and worst quality on a 500MHz with 128MB-RAM and a 64 MB Hercules card, and it ran ok, not good, not bad. It ran a little j e r k y (don't you just love swear filters!) when explosions and the like occured, but all the cutscenes etc. ran fine. You'll be fine with a 500mhz!

And remember, you can always lower the graphics settings in the game. Turning off features stinks but the game runs better (this applies to any game out there). Also, the game (for me at least) slows down a bit after each storyline mission you play but I fixed that very easily enough by saving, exiting, and restarting my computer every once in a while. It worked fine. I think missions completed stay in your RAM or something. No big deal really.

The three strongest (not best!) ships are the Eagle, Sabre, and Titan. The Eagle is the most maneuverable (flies circles around Titans), the Sabre the most powerful (with the forward firing turret), and the Titan carrying the most armor (a whopping 12600).

The freighters carrying the most cargo are the Humpback (250 cargo, class 7 weapons and shield) and the Dromedary (275 cargo, class 6 weapons and shield).

So you may base you decision on this if you are looking for the "best" ship for you, but in reality, there is no "best".

"the best ship to get all round for trading and fighting"

If best is cost effective, I'd say the all around best is Anubis. Can't beat (nearly) free.
The cargo space on a VHF is just a bit under the smallest freighter, but the
survivability is far higher, and can take tough bar missions unlike freighters.

personally, i prefer the Titan, but it up to you, the dromedary is the best for cargo, but handles like sh!te. The Titan is the best way of unloading a lot of powerful guns in a very short burst of fire

well my advice is that the best ship is the one that suits your playing style whether it be fighter, freighter or otherwise and this is not a reference to you ff btw

@a2001assassin:
Actually, the Sabre has the most firepower. This is because of it's forward firing turret. The Titan is the one with the most armor, which increases its survivability.

The Drom handles quite well. If any ship needed a nerf its that one.

@[ZN-Viper, the sabre can rip the extra armor away with it 7th gun (the turret)
