8 sleeper ship?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

The quickest way to get there is through Kusari. But you have to go through like 3 independent systems between Kusari and Omicron Alpha. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't want us to just tell you the easy way to get there, but wants to find it yourself. Good luck

The way you added that "Good luck" in there does not leave me very hopeful. Anyway, thanks for your help bbrock and balefire. I'll find it...if it's the last thing i do (Probably will be, this damn game universe is so big).

Why all the fuss about Nations & Races?
Better to put your energy into finding out who the Coalition was.....
Maybe the factions that made up the Coalition included....

Pan African Union (PAU): formerly the Economic Union of African Republics (EUAR)

League of Latin American RepublicsLLAR)

Oceanic UnionOU)

Isalamic FederationIF)

The French & Israeli's can form their own Union for all i care! FIU)

If I had to guess, I'd say that the other three were French, Italian and Australian, as they are the main Starlancer Alliance nations not represented in Freelancer (assuming that the Canadians were thrown into the Liberty).

Maybe they were sent out in sleeper ships, and you get to meet them in an expansion. Hmmmm, an idea.....

Well, it took me about 6 hours and about 400 dead Corsairs...but i finally got the Outcasts to neutral, and thus reached the Hispania. Nothing impressive, but I just wanted to be able to visit that system. Still plenty more to explore.... where to next....????

Alright. Think about all of this for a sec. I believe there are 8 sleeper ships. I think maybe the Intro was made before they decided to put that in? And like everyone has been saying, didn't have time to finish it? Well when I saw the intro... I thought, World War 2. It makes sense.

Liberty - USA
Rhineland - Germany
Bretonia - Britain
Kusari - Japan

All that makes pretty good sense, major powers in World War 2. But aren't we forgetting a few?

Italy
Russia
France

I don't know what names you would put to those, but they were also major powers in World War 2. Mussolini and Stalin! Plus the old rival between Germany and France. Now even though that you all said the Collision or the Enemy of them all was the ones that didn't need to run? That doesn't make sense if the guy who said that the cloaked ship ****ed up our solar system and the Hispania. I am sure that is a long run, but it seems to have some truth to it. If they did blow it up, wouldn't the enemies want to get out of there? Maybe since they were on the opposite side, they went to another sector.... leaving this open for a sequel. Since we do have those pointless HYPER gates, that probably go from sector to sector ! I haven't played through the single player so please some one tell me if I'm just full of ****. It just seems logical that those would be the races. Wouldn't they prepare sleeper ships incase they lost too? I know the alliance didn't just pull those ships out of their ass.. They were prepared. Why would those two go together? I am sure that the other side probably went to another sector. Microsoft did a great job on this game, and I am sure had in mind for another part of it, that's why there are those clues about the rumors on that planet. Plus most of us have already agreed that they went given enough time to finish the game. Unknown sectors.. and so on.

The only thing I can't figure out about my idea, is what the Hispania had to do with all of this? They weren't really part of World War 2. But they were like right by it all. Maybe I am mistaken and they did play a role. Mexico did in WWI.
Plus, didn't anyone notice how ****ty the Microsoft website was on this? They have nothing on that thing! Its so basic, and half finished. I think this was rushed, just like most everyone else.

If anyone has any ideas about this, or thinks anything about it, just let me know I guess.

F/A-18, congratulations! Interesting system, isn't it?

Re the other three sleeper ships, I haven't played Starlancer so don't know who was in the Alliance and Coalition, but the France/Italy/Australia theory sounds reasonable. But then some of the other theories sound resonable, too.

As for Spain in WW2, it had just had a very bloody civil war--often said to have been a kind of practice for WW2 for weapons and tactics by other powers who fought on one or the other side in the Spanish Civil War and then fought each other in WW2. Spain wasn't in any shape--or had much reason--to join the world war. The Fascist side won in Spain, which is how Franco came to power. Basically he had the backing of the Germans, although that's an over-simplification. If you can find it in a video shop, For Whom the Bell Tolls, the movie version of the Hemingway book about fighters (on the losing side) in the Spanish Civil War, is worth watching, as the book is worth reading.

Yes it was interesting. The one thing that I found VERY eerie about the Omicron Alpha system is the one jumphole surround by dead Outcast ships.... I approached the ships with a curious attitude, and then BOOM I was ambushed by the Nomads. Freaked me out momentarily.

Post Sun Apr 13, 2003 7:04 am

The rumor you can hear in the Malta bar explains why the ships are placed like that, and their take on the Nomads. BTW, I hope you thoroughly looted both the graveyard and the Nomads. <evil grin>

I was so busy fighting nomads i forgot to loot the outcast ships.... in fact, it slipped my mind completely when i decided to go alllll the way back to Manhattan and make a profit off the Caradamine trade. blah...back to Omicron Alpha...

In Reply To Jaykup:

It's unlikely that the Russians or the other Coalition nations (Middle East, Asia minus Japan, and Africa) made it into sleeper ships. If you think about it, building those things would require a fairly hefty effort, and the Alliance was completely on the run, having lost all but Pluto. The Coalition simply wouldn't have had time. However, it is possible that some survived the explosion (like the far-side of Pluto did), and they followed into space.

And I think the Hispania is meant to represent Latin America as well as Spain.

It was just a thought. I have been trying to figure this out just like the rest of you. I am wondering however.. When was this game released? I remember my friend getting the demo a few weeks ago, then when I got the full version I was hooked, but I realized there was no update. The updates for Half-Life are huge, 100megs plus. Maybe they will answer most of our questions in that. I never played Starlancer either, so I don't know the countries involved. It just seems that the Collision had to have had a back up plan. There were more powers involved than just the alliance and the collision weren't there? The order, Nomads, that other race John Brown was talking about who were monkeys or something. Maybe I am just hopping they left this open for a sequal, and it's going to come out soon.

Here is what I want to know... OK so there was this big war between the alliance and the coalition. What countries were involved with each? Because seriously.. as I see it (and I did not play starlancer or anything before freelancer, though I have beat the campaign in freelancer...) the french were LIKELY involved in beating the British, Americans, Germans, Japanese (must have gotten another army?) and the Spanish!

All I have to say to that is wtf?

Maybe France was taken over or something... I am kind of hoping...

One more problem... Where the hell are the black people in this game? There are blacks in America for sure, and I am sure there are black people in all the other countries represented... I mean ffs the African-American population in America makes up a decent percentage... But noooooo

Maybe its explained in Starlancer or something I don't know, it seems weird though.

Thats all I have.
