wow, i've never seen waves of 8 fighters before.

The first time i met these nomads, i was busy creating waypoints on my nav map.. and before i could respond, they already trashed my ship to bits..

i only encounter them in waves of 4
if it takes to long to take em out it could happen that 4 more join the fun
sometimes i could fight for 10 minutes getting nothing
and sometimes i got 6 guns on 2 minutes

think its really just luck

No they come in 8's.

its rare but its happened to me quite a number of times now.

To me it seems there is a lvl minimum requirement to make them drop nomad weapons. I was lvl 31 and fought them for more than half an hour in omega gamma near the Unknown jumphole, where I know they do drop them.

Result = Zero

Ill try again in a few lvls.

Thats exactly what would happen to me up to lvl 33, but each ship i killed in the first wave of 8 dropped either a blaster or cannon, 3 of the second did as well. I then left as I had no batteries left

From what i hear,... the higher your level, the higher your reputation,... the more others will notice.

And the more high level weapons they drop for you.


So it could be because you've become so dangereous that they dont dare attack in waves of 4!

I have never seen them in waves of 8 either. I got 4 cannons in 3 waves of 4 from Omicron A, then I went to Omicron G; to try to get some blasters and fought like 4 waves and never got a thing, and I always finished off at least the last ship of the wave with a single skyblaster or salamanca. Sometimes I could kill two of them that way in the hopes of not destroying the weps if they dropped them. I'm gonna go back later today and try again...but I have never seen waves of 8. BTW, I'm lvl 36.

waves of 4 , post proof that they come in waves of 8

but i went looking for them only at lvl 38 nd managed to get about average one blaster or cannon per wave

i myself have never seen waves of 8 either, always 4

I tried again yesterday after reaching lvl 36 and got them dropping nomad weapons while I could kill them for hours before without dropping anything. So I think it is pretty sure that there is a minimum lvl.

I've heard other people talk about the level min. too, but I don't know...I only tried at lvl 36 (where I'm stuck, dammit ). Regarding waves of 8, it sounds more likely to me that another flight just happens along while you're still engaged w/ the first, since there are only 2 people who say they've had waves of 8.

you're stuck at lvl36? it doesnt let you go up?

That right, i startet in mp and the alwais come in 4, then i end sp and after i get up to 38 (i get a sabre 4 nomad blaster, 2 wyrm, and a skyblat turret) i saw the attac me in 8, but only one time, sry for me english, come fr. german, good luck
