What caused the dinosaurs to die?
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
Eh , the Ring of Fire has been active for quite some time,now... and what that tells us is that the Pacific Plate is still turning, as far as we know. And noone has said that Draysonian shift can't happen. Some would have it that this is "Proof" that that was what whacked the Dinos

Until recently, people simply knew that dinosaurs went extinct — their fossils were found throughout the Mesozoic era, but were not located in the rock layers (strata) of the Cenozoic era. So, we knew that dinosaurs went extinct some 64-66 million years ago, but that was all.
I found out information in a text book that says that scientists may think it may have to do with the plants. Scientists are looking in to it to find out the information.

Why do people think that an asteroid came down and killed the dinosaurs. It couldn't of killed all of them unless it was as big as the earth. If it was that big wouldn't it of destroyed the Earth?

Why do people think that an asteroid came down and killed the dinosaurs. It couldn't of killed all of them unless it was as big as the earth. If it was that big wouldn't it of destroyed the Earth?
It wouldn't need to be the size of the Earth, in fact it would only need to be a few miles across. The real killer is the amount of kinetic energy stored in this asteroid since it's travelling at thousands of miles per hour.
In addition the Earth is largely liquid with a very thin crust on top, and this crust can't take a lot of punishment. Consider the fact that the Earth's crust sags when large icebergs travel over it and you can probably imagine what would happen when a massive rock hits it at stupendous speeds. A rock the size of a large town would be more than enough to wipe out almost every living thing on Earth.
The Sun will surround and engulf the inner planets when it begins the process of becomg a red giant. This is due to happen in roughly five billion years.
Due to it's size and composition the sun will not explode spectacularly upon death. Instead, the end of the sun's lifetime will be triggered when a percentage (around 10%) of it's core has been converted to helium. This disturbs the delicate equilibrium between outward pressure and gravitational force directed inwards, and the sun will begin to slowly collapse under it's own gravitational pull.
This collapse brings material from the outer shell of the sun inwards, and it is quickly consumed by the fuel-starved sun. This process spreads extremely quickly - think of the ignition of a cloud of petrol vapour and you have a good idea of what happens - and as such the sun will expand massively and engulf the inner planets. When it runs out of fuel the sun will contract in on itself again.
This expansion and contraction will occur several times, until the mass of the sun decreases below a certain level. There will be one final expansion, at which point all the inner planets including Earth will be engulfed, and then the sun is unable to hold on to it's outer shell and around half it's mass is lost into space.
The final stages of the sun's lifetime will be even less impressive. Since fusion reactions within the sun will have ceased the remains of the star are pulled in on themselves to form a very dense star around the size of the Earth. This is known as a White Dwarf. The white dwarf will use up its last remaining dregs of energy and then begin to cool, until eventually it has so little energy it is no longer able to emit light. At this point the star has become a Black Dwarf and is about as dead as it can get.
This is all fairly academic since humans will be long gone by then, either extinct or relocated to somewhere more habitable. However it will happen, and it will happen in around five billion years.
