a lot of people that didn't like it have told me that you need to be mormon and had to have grown up in mid-western USA. Fitting both criteria, I loved it. My wife doesn't think that it is funny at all (she's not from the mid-west) and a friend of mine laughed til he cried (he doesn't fit either classification). I think that it depends on your taste in humor, the mood your in when you watch it, and who you watch it with.

It's very subtle humor almost dry... Hey, you Brits might like it, being dry and all.

I happen to be one of those Brits who enjoyed Napoleon Dynamite although i think a large part was identifying bits of myself and old school friends in that movie more than anything else. I'm sure it'd be even better if I'd grown up somewhere like that.

that's not a line I can imagine costner saying, he doesn't have the voice to make it sound threatening at all.
