Esky enters the 21st century...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Esky enters the 21st century...

Well I guess that I should announce that, as of now, I'm moving into the 21st century by switching to a 512/128 ADSL connection. It is long overdue and I will miss the good old days when 56k was "the best", but it is a necessity particularly as I can't download big mods, patches, updates, utilities, virus definitions, etc. Final will have to take my place in upholding the benefits and efficacy of ye olde modem technology. I hope you're up to it old son .

The main reason that I created this topic is because, as I am such a well-known modem user *glares at Neo and other hecklers*, I thought that I should "come clean" in order to avoid confusion and break the news gently; no more modem jokes . It is the end of an era; one I thought would never end . So, that being said, farewell dear modem, farewell...

Note: I would also like to state that I have now been on TLR for 12 months and 5 days. Where does the time go? I was wondering what TLR would be like without me, and I came up with a simple answer; the same, but full of people who wouldn't know the difference between ginger beer and ginger ale !

Asynchronous Esquilax...... That's kind of catchy.

Abandon me to fend for myself. *Pulls out survival rations*

Oh man, another one lost from our dwindling modem community.
I guess I can't help but say that I envy you, Esqy.

Don't worry FD, you're not the only one. I've got 56k as well simply for the fact that broadband is too much for us poor young flatters....

Oh well fine Esqy, join the dark side. We all know you'll miss that sound when you dial up

Thanks guys, it's good to be modern .

Final - Don't worry, I'll stil support you .

Indy - "Asynchronous Esquilax"? Well it's better than "Esquilaxative" *glares at ff* .

Red - I already miss the handshake *sigh*.

Congrats Esq. I'll be joining you (and leaving FD and redstar, obviously) in about two months, hopefully.

Right now there's just no point for me to get a high-speed connection considering that my computer is a 300 Mhz POS.

Bugger !
No more Modem jokes !
And since Final is now a mod .... *grumble*,*grumble*

Anyway ,Welcome to the bright side of the internet Esq ! Watch your bandwidth closely, it's all you'll get (unless you're using a service which cuts your service down to 56k levels when you exceed it, in which case I envy you ). You will love all the hackers trying to break through your firewall 24/7 ...... !

What service are you using by the way ?
P.S. I don't know what the difference between Ginger beer and Ginger Ale is, what is it ?

Now you can download porn all the more faster Esq! Yes, we know you watch it you filthy bugger.

Do you have a job now aswell, you must have otherwise how could you afford the connection?

CODE - Well if *I* can join the "digital revolution", then anyone can .

Neo - I'm using a company called Swift. I investigated them last year, and they merged with a publically listed company. That's a good thing . As for bandwidth, I have 16GB/month, and each GB after that is only $9. Nice and cheap. As for hackers, I unplug my modem when I'm not using it (no "Off" button ), and I have two firewalls; ZA and an in-built SPI firewall with NAT. Take that hackers!

Mustang - *Shakes head* You never give up do you? I have more important things to look up. Eg. this .

dr - Lamentably no, I'm still unemployed. I have however, been saving up in expectation of this day .

Taw - There's nothing wrong with bare ankles. Fortunately, I wasn't raised within the strict confines of Tawalkalnistan .

all i can say is about bloody time, do you know how many times we've had to listen to you complaining about your crappy modem no offence final

Post Thu Oct 14, 2004 12:29 pm

@Esqy,

My service applies a monthly charge, no use limitation. You've probably explained this before in some ancient grave diggable thread but.....

How does your service tariff work with that usage penalty?
