Favourite Music?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Taw/sw - Wagner is great. Have you ever noticed that John Williams' music contains a really strong Wagnerish style? Interesting, eh?

he's a terrible plagiarist, the old plagiarist. he also sounds a lot like Resphigi and Vaughan-Williams. You lot prob think he's a genius because of Star Wars but he really is a shocking plagiarist.

most classically-based film scores use the symphonic poem to illustrate the films thematic scenes, if they are written for the film and are not already extant and added in. JW does have very Wagnerian elements, as i said he also makes use of Resphigi and Vaughan-Williams; but then again film makers have borrowed a lot of their compositional techniques and visual imagery from pre-20th C painting. I don't mind the borrowing of ideas as long as they're honest about it. That's one of the reasons that i like Michael Nyman's film scores so much, he's q open about his influences so much so that you could say he revels in it.

now he I will pass on, not because he isn't any good (he's got a great voice) but because it's just classical wallpaper. dull dull dull intro stuff for people who just browse classical music. like Mantovani for the 21st C.

Curently listening to Star Wars music, helps with writting the story.

I find (and I'm sort of rerouting the thread here) that the best game music is usually found not in large productions but in small, independent games. My two faves from a musical standpoint are Ultimate Steriods and Platypus.

Classical, mostly, beethoven, mozart, absolute favourite of all time is Track 1 on on the TA soundtrack (not the data track, the one after that)

evidently not with the spelling. I draw your attention to:
The Empire Strikes Back : Disk 1, Track 7 - Arival at Dagobah

John Williams has authored some classic scores for films, but his work seems too boring in many respects. Making Star Wars in a particular Saturday afternoon action movie style is al well and good, but every action movie since then has been the same freaking thing or as close as possible. The guy ran out of creativity back with Jurassic Park.

A little bit of country, and a little bit of rock and roll..........I still mainly listen to the oldies { 50s-70s rock and roll}. Imagine if we only had one kind of music to listen to? How boring that would be............

We all have our own tastes........................AZAR
