Is this thread about in-game music or about any music? If the latter, then there have been at least two (if not more) threads, and searching the forums will give you info on most members' likings. If it's the former, then I'd vote for HW too.

Without digging too far down (hint hint)

ehhhmmmm, By far too much to even list in here but the main (or most prominent) features include:
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Janis Joplin
The Doors
Zager and Evans
Canned Heat
Black Sabbath
Steppenwolf
Donovan
Melanie
Guess who
The Box Tops
Fleetwood Mac
Fifth Dimension
The Mamas & the Pappas
Jefferson Airplane
Aretha Franklin
Jimi Hendrix
Joe Cocker
Meat Loaf
The Troggs
(some) Bob Marley
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
The Dubliners
Enya
Red Amy Choir (some, just some)
Rammstein
(a few) Metallica
Martha and the Vandelas
(more then usual) Elvis Presley
Ennio Moricone

these are the most prominent ones, but they all tend to home in on the sixties and many years before, with the exception of some.
I have no liking at all, a few bands try to be creative, and they mstly succeed, but for the rest, if you want the best of the songs, listen to the early ones, thats when they are ususally at their best.
No further comment.

Search button, search button. I know it's a hidden feature of most forums, but it IS useful. We've had dozens of threads on this topic already. So, next time, use the search feature.

Pre Black?

PLEASE say Pre Black

Post Tue Sep 28, 2004 2:58 pm

Metallica - Metallica is a great album too......flippin awesome in fact. So they became more commercial - but alot say 'pre black' because its 'cool'. Fact is that Metallica - Metallica ROCKS. After that things changed - but what do you expect? They were loaded, they no longer lived their hard up days etc.

As for the change in their writing and production - they grew up. They moved on in age - as Alice in Chains Guitarist Jerry Cantrell once said:
"Our music - its who we are, its what we do, its what we live, its where we're at, its who we are" - meaning their experiences in life, encounters and everything else influenced their songs. Like when the Gallagher brothers stopped doing coke, got off the streets by being rich - started living the 'Good life' - they could no longer write about how life was back in the 'cigarettes and alcohol' days.....because it wasn't what they were experiencing anymore.

Metallica moved on and matured. Yeah - i don't like the new stuff either....but i don't hate it/consider it a sell out - they progressed. There is only so much hate they can write about - hence why most bands 'fizzle' out. Good thing is that they still perform all the classics live

My other favs:

Alice in Chains
Guns 'n Roses
Led Zepplin
AC/DC

Bah - can't be bothered to write more - could be here all night

Neil Young
easily in the top 10 of both electric guitarists and acoustic guitarists of all time.
awesome back-catalog to boot.

I also listen to Metallica. I like their newer stuff, because it does sound cool. But I still prefer the pre-black albums stuff. Master of Puppets was their heaviest album by far. But honestly, though, when it comes to heavy metal, I prefer bands from Finland, Sweden, and Germany. Bands like Dimmu Borgir, Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Entwine, Sonata Arctica, Samael and Dream Evil. These bands put most of America's metal bands to shame. They stomp Metallica into the ground.

BAHAHAHAHHAH....for once when I saw the thread title, I thought that FINALLY you had started a thread with nothing to do with your space-sim games.

And yet you've done it again....
