Knights of the Old Republic
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
This is so strange. When I went to get the 1.02 patch, I got the pop-ups wanting to install those programs. And then even when I clicked (no), They were installed anyway. I had to run the adaware program over night to get rid of it a second time. I am checking the patch now, and it lists a 1.03 patch. Got it downloading, and its bigger. But, no pop-ups yet. *keeps fingers crossed.*
Update-
Downloaded patch 1.03 Now my system no longer meets requirements for game play, till I download new drivers for my card. Did a rescan of Spyroot, found nothing this time. What I was getting was
1.SideSearch (in registry)
2. Save Now-WhenUSave (in registry)
3. IgetNet (in registry)
4. ClearSearch (in registry)
5. AdDestroyer (in programs file )
6. Virtual Bouncer (in programs file)
I still haven't figured what is going on or why game needs have changed.
And it stil drops out to desktop. I hope the card drivers can change that.

Where the helll are you downloading the patch from anyway? LA? There was no spyware when I last had KOTOR on (about a month ago) or, if there had been, it was hidden deep wirthin the registry and didn't bother me with pop-ups or install into the "Program Files" dir. There must be some other explanation.
Well, the card driver update did not help, instead, Media player won't work now, and it still drops to desktop every 4 minutes. I got the patch from the site that the (upgrade) button takes you to. Due to drop outs, I am losing intrest in it. It doesn't close, I can click on the taskbar and be back in where I left off.
Edit- Just dumped KOTOR. Too much hassels and changes to my computer. The MSN search engine was changed to (search) and no way to change it back. Did a system restore from before kotor, and its all back to normal. Well, $29.99 down the drain.

Final - Don't throw in the towel! It is theoretically possible that the server has been infected, or that something else along the way is giving you spyware. Try one thing for me; download the latest patch from this site, and then try it. That is where I often download my patches from, and I've never had any problems. Bloody automatic updates, there more trouble than they are worth!
Kind of hesitant to reinstall it again. Never had the kind of problems I got before the game. I'll have to think about it, because of having to get rid of it again. The search issue, I think is from the spyware. You could not open the custom function. I really Hate programs that make changes without asking.
Edit- The drop to desktop thing began the first tme I got rid of the spyware and before the patch.

The way I got KOTOR to keep working without problems, is to shut down ALL programs except SysTray and Explorer. I use Windows '98 so this procedure might be different for you, Final. I go to the start menu, go to Run, then type in msconfig and hit enter. Go to the tab that says "startup." Then turn everything off, except for SystemTray and Taskmonitor. I got KOTOR to run PERFECTLY using this configuration. I hope that helps.

6:20 pm local, and all is well. No patch, but also no spyware either. So far, it hasn't crashed to desktop either. This one has me stumped. After getting rid of spyware the first time, I had crashes, this time of install, nothing. hmm? an't figure it out. Esq, thanks for the help and for taking the time.
