Knights of the Old Republic
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
I know what you mean Mustang, but the GameSpot article says that KOTOR 2 is being developed by a bunch of guys who made BG, Icewind Dale, and Planescape. Hopefully it will be ok, and they are not altering the gameplay machanics so it should be more of the same but with more powers, a new plot, and better graphics.
I think the problem the PC version of the first game had, was that it wasn't properly optimized for the PC. I've got a feeling that this next will be.
"If it's our time to die, it's our time. All I ask is that when it's our time, if we have to give these b******s our lives, WE GIVE 'EM HELL BEFORE WE DO!"

MAn if KoTor 2 Bombs will be so, lets just say angry, I will atempt to kill Every one a lucus arts for destroying one of the best games ever. I meditate in conjuction with the jedi counsle that it won't.

I hate LucasArts so much right now, I could spit nails. They'll release some Star Wars s**t, like Force Commander and Episode 1: The Phantom Menace adventure game, then they announce sequels to awesome adventure games such as Full Throttle and Sam & Max. Then those f****s will come out and cancel them without giving a goddamn good reason. I am SO close to boycotting EVERYTHING from LucasArts right now, it's not even funny. The only, I repeat, ONLY thing I will buy from them is KOTOR 2. That's it. Not even Star Wars is going to keep me from leaving LucasArts behind.

I read a recent game review article on this so I thought I'd post it's advice on Bioware not doing the work on KOTOR2.
LucasArts has promised to release both console and PC versions of KOTOR2 The Sith Lords at the same time.
Early reports on game quality are good. Bioware declined to produce The Sith Lords because they were committed to an XBOX title or something. Bioware recommended Obsidian Entertainment to LucasArts to carry the mantle.
Like Esqy said, the guys at Obsidian are the ones who created Fallout 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2 and Planescape: Torment.
All of this, of course, is Greek to me because I've not heard of those games nor do I currently have KOTOR (or any other Star Wars games) altho the magazine made it seem very interesting. Hmmm, I wonder if I can get it for $1.99 to add my pile of games I need to learn.
Anyway, the mag is one I found in an airport waiting lounge: Computer Gaming World and it is the June 2004 issue. Wow, it is $8.99 off the rack. Must be because it comes with a DVD packed with stuff. Not, of course, left with the mage when I found it.

Indy - Get KOTOR now; it's great, trust me .
Gamespot has some gameplay videos up for KOTOR2. The first one is free, but the others require soul-sucking registration .

I just bought KotOR for $20. Started playing and so far I'm having flashbacks to Final Fantasy 7.
I'm not too thrilled on the RPG thing, but I'll see if I get into it. After passing the introductory mission, I can't say I have a great feel for the game, but I'm having difficulty imagining myself playing this thing to it's full conclusion if it's a long game.
Any tips? And is there a difference in character choices? I chose smuggler.
