Knights of the Old Republic

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

well kotor was on xbox first...

It's anything BUT a console game. You'd have to play it. It was released on XBOX first, but it was developed simultaneously for the XBOX and the PC. It sort of controls like a Third Person game, but there's more to it than that. You control up to a party of three people. Some Jedi, two droids, a Mandalorian warrior, and a Republic soldier. You can customize how you're character looks, there are workbenches throughout the game to which you can upgrade and customize your weapons and lightsabers. With lightsabers, when you become a Jedi later in the game, you can find crystals that will change the color of you saber as well as change the intensity and strength of the saber. It's really cool. You can also upgrade to two sabers or a dual-bladed lightsaber. When you get into fights, it's a cross between turn-based and real-time. You can pause the game to issue commands, but you don't have to. I don't. Fights look really cool when you have a lightsaber. They get better when you go up against Dark Jedi. It's really challenging, too. It's certainly more of a challenge than any of those Final Fantasy games. You can level up any individual stats you want or let the computer make the choices for you. It's all up to you. Unfortunately, you don't start out as a Jedi, that's one of the downsides. The graphics are fantastic and the story also has a major twist when you get to a certain point. The voice acting is above and beyond anything else that I've heard in a game. The music is different, you got some original themes from John Williams, but a lot of it is done by someone else. This is one of those few games, that can get you emotionally involved. There were some points in this game that when I made a bad decision, it made me feel bad for the iinnocent people who were involved. This is one of the funnest games I've ever played.

It's definitely worth buying. I'm a Star Wars nut, so it was an automatic. One of the best buys I've had in years. I think I'm going to go play it again.

I bought the game a week ago or so but strangely whenever i pass Taris and get to Dantooine immediately after the landing sequence the game crashed (stopped responding) i dont know why buts its feckin irritating. I love playing Dark Side though ehhehe being evil and destructive is so much fun. But I never got to be a jedi!!! **starts crying**

Com, in your case, you may want to try the patch. Look back in this thread, Esq lists a place I think, to get a clean patch. Beware the spyware thought.

Post Mon Jun 21, 2004 3:43 am

Did you read my comment Final? That 1.3 patch DOES seem to contain spyware. Still, it could (and probably is) a false reading. Lucasarts wouldn't be that stupid.

Post Mon Jun 21, 2004 4:17 am

He could try it or another one. I haven't due to the fact that it changes my video requirements to say my system won't pass. And it would verify if there is spyware attahed to it or coming from the site.

Final - The spyware is located inside the patch file. THAT is what is strange.

Post Mon Jun 21, 2004 4:35 am

Would that not come back to who put the file togeather?

Post Mon Jun 21, 2004 4:38 am

Indeed. The question is, is it a false alarm, or are Lucasrts or 3DGamers playing games with us?

Finished the game. Not too bad,I think I'll go again, but very th charitor(sp) a little bit. Maybe a soldier this time and sentienal rather than a gardian jedi. Do love using 2 sabers rather than a double blade.

Post Mon Jun 21, 2004 6:28 pm

Yep. Dual sabers are the way to go; more customisation. Which colours do you prefer?

I love the "Flourish Weapon" command (you hit it and he spins the swords around a bit to look cool) I play a soldier and use dual vibro-blades, naturally im going for dual sabers . Though I do see some serious fun to be had in the scoundrel class, its that whole sneaking around thing, very cool. Hey got a quick question for you guys, how did you get past that huge rancor in the sewers? I got Mission around him, threw 2 concussion grenades at the thing then ran by with carth and my guy. I did kill him once for 800 xp but i wasted all my grenades. Is there a quick, easy way to kill the damn thing? All of the shooting at once always miss and any damage they do is so miniscule its un-noticeable.
