@WLB

Imperator Bob is classy. Although I kind of like Dux Belli Bob. It has a nice rhythm to it and reduces to a neater acronym.... DBB as opposed to IB.

And, officially, IB would make you Emperor Bob.... or was that the point of your comment?

@Indy - I thought Imperator was Warlord
(see Evil Things post)

Oh well, perhaps I'll retire from my violent ways and rule my empire as an emperor some day...

@WLB

Imperator, alone, means emperor, mainly, but also other titles of leadership or headship so it could mean "lord" as well (as you can see, it is the grand-daddy of the word, emperror or empire or imperial, etc.). Likewise, the word dux also means leader, lord, chief... but not king.... and is the grand-daddy of duke (Eng.) or duc (Fr.). In Taw's analysis, he ultimately agreed with me that dux was probably the better way to go.

But the word war is bellum. As you would be the lord of war, so to speak, the
latin for "of war" would be belli.

So the complete latin for your name would be either:

"Imperator Belli Bob" or "Dux Belli Bob."

Imperator Bob would just mean: Emperor Bob.

Some day...

Dominus means Lord (or master, but was an honorific "lord" for the later Emperors.) Imperator is a purely military title, in theory bestowed only by the army. Dux is a far better use of the term "warlord" as Romans used to give that title to their allied captains.

Sounds like "ducks". I like imperator! Military emperor... sounds like a warlord to me

My secondary school used the word "Dux" to denote the individual who was the best at a particular subject. Damn Catholic school *grumble*....

Thank you all for you warm thanking

As for Latin:

ego odisse brevis palus calculare, sic ego voluntas
spam, fortasse non. Ego voluntas
censere.

Imperator Belli Bob

Is unneccesary, imperator also means general, and is/was commonly used as such.

ego odisse brevis palus calculare, sic ego voluntas
spam, fortasse non. Ego voluntas
censere

Err... to be brutally honest, this makes no sense.

Do you mean:
breves palos dinumerare odeo, sic spamabo*, fortasse non spamabo. cernam

* Romans had no word for spam, so I was lazy and made it a first conjugation verb - spamo, spamare, spamavi, spamatum

I'm not evil, just morally challenged

my school used the term "Tawakalna" to denote who was best at stuff

unf. that was usually my mate Dave

You're all right. If a warlord really equates to a general then imperator (singly) is the way to go and, yeah, in latin, it would be a redundancy.
